Steemit Learning Challenge-S22W3; Trigger Finger"
Hello my steemian friends,
This is my participation in the contest” Steemit Learning Challenge-S22W3: Physical Therapy Intervention: Trigger Finger organised by @ashkhan adminin Steem Physio & Rehab
Homework Task
What is trigger finger? Write in your own words after gaining knowledge from the lesson post.
Trigger finger or stenosing tenosynovitis is a condition that affects the tendons in our fingers, causing one or more of our fingers to get stuck in a bent position and then straighten as if pulling a trigger. This condition can be painful and reduce your ability to do everyday tasks.
It is usually related to activities that involve gripping, such as using tools, typing on a keyboard or playing a musical instrument. Over time, these activities can stretch the tendons in the fingers, causing inflammation.
Some other conditions can also contribute to the development of trigger finger, including rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes and conditions that cause inflammation. Additionally, hormonal changes, especially in women, and age-related changes in tendons and joints can further trigger this condition.
It can cause symptoms such as inability to straighten the affected finger, popping or clicking sensation when moving the finger, stiffness in the finger, especially in the morning Pain or discomfort when moving the affected finger or applying pressure to the affected area
How would you diagnose trigger finger? Any diagnostic tests or evaluation tests?
(Try practicing at least 3 exercises learned from the lesson. Share images, GIFs or videos while practicing, preferably GIFs or videos.)
To diagnose this disease or problem, a thorough physical examination by a professional doctor is necessary. During the examination, our doctor will assess the range of motion of our finger, look for any signs of swelling or tenderness and evaluate the presence of a clicking sensation. They will also learn about our family medical history and any activities that may have contributed to the development of trigger finger.
Imaging tests such as ultrasound or MRI technology can be used to confirm its diagnosis and rule out arthritis or tendon damage.
Treatment of trigger finger depends on the severity of its symptoms and may include both non-surgical and surgical diagnosis.
Non-surgical treatment:, Resting the affected finger and avoiding activities that aggravate the symptoms, Using a splint to immobilize the finger and reduce stress on the tendons, Prescribing painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce pain and swelling. Applying an ice pack to the affected area to reduce swelling also helps, Massage is also a good option of therapy as massage gives space for the damaged or trigger finger tendons to move back to their normal position, but it has to be done continuously for several days or weeks.
If non-surgical treatments fail to provide relief or the condition is severe, trigger finger surgery is required, this procedure is called trigger finger release or trigger finger release surgery, in this a qualified physician surgeon will make a small incision in the affected finger and carefully cut the narrowed part of the tendon sheath so that the tendon can move more freely.
Showing videos of 3 exercises.
1-Trigger Finger Stretch
2-Tendon Glides
3-Finger Joint Massage
I have tried to understand the methods of treating this trigger finger by understanding its teaching lessons given by @ashkhan, and with these techniques and methods, I may get partial or complete success in curing my this problem.
I also want to invite here
@josepha @dove11 and @drhira
Thanks for reading my post, I pray to God for the progress and happy future of all Steemians.

Thank you for understanding the lesson and sharing your assignment; I hope that you will enjoy this week's lesson and try to implement it in your life if you see any such case.
Observations
Task 1 (2.7/3)
You have shared a great knowledge about trigger finger, its symptoms, causes but didn't add it's stages. A bit more depth require to complete the answer. I appreciate your effort.
Task 2 (2.3/3)
In the second question, you tell us about how you have to assess a patient by doing physical examination, history taking, investigations but didn't add the special tests. But it would be better to add explanation of special tests and investigations too like who we perform them on the patient. Good.
Task 3 (3.8/4)
You try the finger extensor strengthening, trigger Finger stretch, finger joint massage. You did the trigger finger stretches, finger joint massage and finger flexor strengthening correctly. But you mixed up the name of exercise or maybe put the wrong link under each exercise. I deduct less grade as it was done by mistake but please next time carefully add the link. Always remember to apply heat pack in chronic condition and ice pack in acute condition before performing exercises to relax the muscles and reduce stiffness. I appreciate your efforts.
Overall you made a great attempt to answer all the questions. I appreciate your efforts. But next time try to avoid the above written suggestions. Keep learning and try to implement your knowledge to the people suffering from trigger finger or any type of finger issue. Thank you.
