Contest: The Debate (Week 47); IS HOME WORK NECESSARY FOR LEARNING?
Hello 🤗 guys, I welcome you all to my blog today. Today I want to join the contest with the title IS HOME WORK NECESSARY FOR LEARNING? This contest was organised by the @sahmie.
Do you think homework helps you remember what you learned in school? |
---|
I think homework is a very important aspect of teaching as it helps one go back to what he or she was taught in the class and the recall all of it and at the same time make some research since most times the homework are not always verbatim what you have been taught initially instead it will include a little twist to make you make a little research.
Just like the current Steemit Learning Challenge where we see lectures by the different professors and then a homework task to check if the lesson they have passed and more are well understood by the students.
So based on the above mentioned and discussed point of mine you will will agree with me that it is very necessary to always give a homework to students after school to enable them not to just remember what they have learnt in the classroom but also to help them make other form of research and get more knowledge about the topic of discussion.
How do you feel when you have a lot of homework? |
---|
Having a lot of homework is always very tiring and most times you will just have to try and attempt all of them as you don't even know which will be taken more serious or which will be recorded to help increase your score.
Currently in Steemit, aside the numerous contest which serves as an assignment open for almost every Steemian, the current Steemit Learning Challenge also comes with about 17-18 homework which we need to complete before the end of 7 days.
Now trying them all as encouraged by the Steemit team gives you more chances of getting support but it is not always easy doing 2 of these homework task in a day and for that reason it becomes difficult or even impossible to attempt them all.
So I feel very bad when I have a lot of homework because I don't even know which will be used and mark will be awarded to if only I know I will focus on just those ones and then get a good score. Similarly, if only I know the post that will be voted on Steemit I will focus on it and possibly win it.
Can you think of ways homework could be made more useful or enjoyable? |
---|
Homework are already useful but talking about making it enjoyable I will say that students need firstly to love the subject or what they are learning before they can find the task more enjoyable. As a teacher I can categorically say that students will only enjoy assignment if the have interest in the course.
Another way I try to keep my students mind on what they are learning and also make sure they try to do their assignments is when I deviate a little from the initial thing I taught them ensuring that they make a little research.
Also to keep them active and ensure that they are force to do it weather they enjoy it or not, I always ensure that I allocate a mark to the assignment and they always come back to the class to proof how they got their results of the task given. In this way they don't just copy but they do their work and ensure that they do it well.
So this is one of the major ways in my opinion on how homework can be made fun and enjoyable as there are little conditions attached to it to make it look a bit compulsory.
Finally, I wish to invite my friends @dove11, @solaymann, and @josepha to also join this contest today and share their own opinions about this wonderful topic.
