Stories, learnings and reflection #05/ Indeed, People Only Celebrates Success

[An Event I planned]

Greetings erudite Steemians, @alexanderpeace has made us cross paths again via the contest "Stories, learnings and reflection #05. Today I will be presenting my personal life story while studying in the prestigious University of Uyo, Uyo Akwa Ibom State.

As my culture has always been, permit me not to use the actual names of people lest a interfere into people's privacy. It was on a faithful Friday when my departmental president informed me of the event he is planning for the department. Not just that, he added that I will be the Central Planning Committee Chairman for the event that was to be Tagged "SESA' DAY CELEBRATION" I.e, a day set aside for Science Education Students (old and new) to come and dine together.

At first, I smiled and waved away such appeal because I never saw myself fit enough to host such an Herculean tasks. Despites my refusals, he still persuaded me and made me convinced that there was no other person best fit than myself. I gladly accepted the proposal then went forward to look out for those who will be assisting me during the event.

When I met my room mate Judas, He mocked at me told me not to waste my time in what I won't be able to actualize. I felt so down that I decided to call four of my trusted friends for a meeting so as to seek their encouragement and supports. Behold, the encouragement turned to discouragement when 2 of them refused to honor my invitation having known what was to be discussed. The other two that came never encouraged nor supported me as well. Rather, they brought the extracts of their hidden meeting which centered on me avoiding the "fruitless event".

At this point, I thought of letting go but something kept telling me "Look! People Only Celebrates Success" so keep pushing. I ensured that I never up and that everything was put in place. The D-Day came and my Six friends attended the event with the full intensions of telling "I told you but you wouldn't listened."

My HOD, Staff Adviser and other members of the management team where well seated waiting for the event to kick start. Students filled the hall all with great expectations on what the day would offer. The event finally started with an opening remark my the Chairman and behold! The event went beyond our expectations. Closer to the end of the event, my friends walked to me to the photographs and as well identify with me for such an amazing height attended. It was during this time that one of them said aloud "Indeed, People Only Celebrates Success"

The Story teaches me never to listen to anyone's opinion when it's undermine my worth. And in most cases we should always let the outcome of our plans known and not our plans itself.

Never to look down on myself or any other person. Rather, I should always support others to go up as I expect to join them higher

My friends ability to grace the event and as well celebrate my success points to the fact that we ought not to keep malice or envy people's success

My presido giving me an opportunity to serve in such position teaches me that in most cases we have to be the hidden hero while we frontier others.
