INTRODUCTION

Greetings distinguished Steemians, it is a thing of joy that @alexanderpeace has made us cross paths again via the Stories, learnings and reflections #04 contest. Today I will be telling us a story of a barren woman who had children. Does it make any sense that one could be barren yet, have multi children? It sounds funny but reading this story would make it clearer.

THE BARREN WOMAN

Just for privacy reasons, permit me not to mention the actual name of the woman but to label her has Mummy. Mummy is a woman I met somewhere in Uyo, Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State during my tertiary Education. We happened to live in the same compound for years and little did I know that she was a barren woman because, her home was always filled with humans, both children and adults.

She never cooks with a small pot and neither did she ever feel bored or cry in search of food. Everyday people walks into her home with foodstuffs and other materials things which made me feel she had more than two dozens of children. I ponder on what made her act this way then I was told how it all started.

THE STORY OF MUMMY FROM CHILDHOOD

Mummy lost her parents to a car accident at a very tender age so she moved out to live with a family friend of theirs. During adolescent, Mummy happened to be a victim of an emotional domestic voilence which led to a complicated health condition that her womb was removed so as to save her life. Though life was not going well with her, she never let her inability to have a child define her worth so she moved on happily chasing her goals.

Mummy later finished learning a trade and boom she is with a man who loved her despite her condition. They got married and moved to their home which was a quater mainly for students to rent. Since mummy never had a child to feed, she ensured that all the students who lived in their compound never paid a dime. She even went has far as dishing food for all of them when ever she prepared food for her husband.

As time progresses and years have passed, mummy became seriously sick of cancer and was instructed to be rushed out of the country. Many thoughts ran through her head, where will I have such funds? How will I survive in a strange country? Mummy summon courage and went ahead to make investigations on the hospital that was recommended to her in U S. It was during her findings that she realized that the hospital was owned by one of the children who lived freely in her compound.

The rest is history as both her hospital bills, transport fare, accomodations and feeding was taken care of by the same hospital she went for treatment.

Upon returning home, Mummy never stopped her benevolent work having realized how populated her children were even when she never gave birth to any. In summary it was the children he helped that became adults and would always bring foodstuffs in which she used in feeding other children. It may interest you to know that I am part of Mummy's Children.

THE IMPACT IT HAD ON ME AND WHAT I LEARNED

The story of a barren woman who had children teaches me the importance of showing love to others. Imagine what would have become of her if the medical doctor was not someone she knew. Where would she have sourced the money to sponsor her trip as well as the hospital bill? Well, in her own case, her little kindness of letting children live freely in her apartment paid her greatly.

In addition to the favor she received, mummy childhood stories is one that would make an individual give up in life but, mummy ensured that losing both parents earlier in life as well as losing her womb never defined her worth. She still made the best out of life.

In essence, I learned that good works pays, and that I should always ensure never to forget the good that people do to me. Permit me to invite the following Steemians to join the contest
