It was on December 28, 2024, that I had the privilege of witnessing a truly unforgettable moment, the traditional marriage proposal of my beautiful cousin to her long-time partner. The handsome groom-to-be swept her off her feet with a romantic proposal, making their commitment official in a beautiful display of love and tradition.

I felt honored to be a part of this special day and couldn't wait to share the joy with others. That's why I'm thrilled to participate in this contest organized by @ashkhan, where I can relive the magic of that moment by sharing this heartwarming photo.

Although my hometown is Akwa Ibom State, the traditional marriage ceremony took place in Umuechem Village, Imo State, where my cousin's family originates. Determined not to miss this special occasion, my family and I embarked on a road trip from Akwa Ibom, departing at 5:00 a.m. and arriving in Imo State by 9:00 a.m., completing the approximately four-hour journey.

Upon arrival, we found the women of Umuechem Village busily preparing and cooking a variety of delicious meals for the guests who would be arriving soon. We eagerly lent a hand to ensure everything was ready on time. I assisted with cutting firewood, while my mother and siblings helped with tasks such as slicing carrots, pounding afang leaves, frying buns, chopping tomatoes, and many other essential preparations. Together, we worked tirelessly to make the occasion a success.

Exhausted from the journey and having skipped breakfast, I was delighted to be served a generous plate of salad rice with chicken, accompanied by afang soup with garri. As salad rice is my favorite dish, I devoured it with relish, but unfortunately, couldn't finish the soup due to the generous serving. The satisfying meal brought me immense joy and rejuvenated my energy.

Time flew swiftly, and before long, the marriage ceremony was about to commence, preceded by a brief gathering at the kingdom hall.

Following the formalization of their union at the kingdom hall, the newlyweds returned to the bride's compound for the traditional marriage festivities. The atmosphere was filled with joy and laughter as they cut their wedding cake, participated in delightful games, and received thoughtful gifts. Overwhelmed with happiness, they danced with abandon, basking in the euphoria of their special day.

I am deeply grateful to God Almighty for making my cousin's wedding day an unforgettable celebration, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Below i present to you the newlyweds Bridget & Gilead......👇🏾
