Contest: The Debate (Week 50); Who has an easier life, Male or Female?

Like they always say, sometimes life throw to us what we expect least and we just need to accept it as it comes. Today I will be participating in the @sahmie in the Steem and fashion Community contest and be sharing my view how far this year have gone.

Well I actually believe that both men and women actually face different challenges in their daily lives which ends to be attended to. There are some common examples which I would like to share below;

• Workplace and Career Challenges: For women, I have come to discover that women face discrimination because of their gender in their workplace and in fact limited them in their leadership roles. For men, they may face this society pressure just to get things right most especially financially, I feel like a whole lot of men are facing pressure making it because the majority of them are breadwinners in their family.

• Health and Safety Concerns: One of the examples I want to set out also is the aspect of the Health and Safety Concerns. Most of the time, women face this challenges of having to deal with issues like pregnancy and many more. I strongly believe women are more subjected to face sexual assault. For men, it works in a way whereby they are involved in demanding jobs in their working place thereby affecting their health at the end of the day most especially the mental health.

• Societal Expectations and Roles: I have actually come to discover that women always face this Societal expectations that they will need to meet because some of them are homemakers and so there is much pressure on them. For the men, I will say they are often pressured to meet their family demands most especially in the aspect of the financial success.

• Access to Opportunities and Resources: When it comes to access to opportunities, I will say it actually varies, most women always face issues trying to balance access ro education and also the financial resources. For the men and in some advanced countries, we will discover that there are less support systems for the men which should not be so.

Well I will say is actually so complex and difficult to answer because the answer depend on the cultural context and also the economic context. In some parts of the world, it looks like men have more freedom than women and in some parts of the world, reverse is the case actually.

Talking about some popular reasons which I believe men have or may have more freedom in their choices is the first of the freedom societal constraints. The truth is men have less societal constraints compared to the women and so it gives the men more freedom to actually do things or have access to some opportunities beyond what they can imagine as compared to the women.

The other aspect I believe a man can enjoy more freedom much more than a woman is the aspect of safety and mobility. In public space, I will say men face less harassment and violence compared to the women so they can move freely without the fear of danger as compared to the women. This is not so for the women, for the women, they are more subjected to harassment and violence and so they are less safe outside.

Well I strongly believe there are actually areas whereby women can have advantages much more than the men. It can be due to the biological, social and even the cultural factors associated to it. There are some factors that I give as an example.

• Emotional Intelligence and Social Skills: I have come to discover that women have more emotional intelligence like empathy and many more. In fact women have more power to solve conflicts and trust me this have given the women the advantages to building the relationship much more. This helps women to perform well in emotions.

• Longevity and Health Awareness: The second one which might be funny but it is true. I have come to discover that women lives long much more than men. Till now I am still trying to find the reason whether it is because of the much expectations on the men much more than the women. Men tend to suffer more health issues than women.

• Support Networks: Then the last one I will like to talk that women have the advantage to some privileges and opportunity much more than men. Women tend to have much more social support systems much more than men. This is realistic.

Well you will agree with me that the family responsibility play a very major role in the lives of men and women much more. The first is the aspect of the traditional gender expectations. Most of the time, women are always faces with this management tasks and attending to a lot of responsibilities like raising children and also the aspect of emotional support for the family most especially.

For men, they will need to actually faces with holding a whole lot of things that needs to be attended to. Men naturally have assumed the position of financial providers for their home and so sometimes it can really be overwhelming for them most especially when there are faced with pressure to participate and also to attend to the family needs they have. Trust me it can really be overwhelming.

Well at the end of the day, it will become difficult for me to actually point out who have the easy life because both men and women can have easy life. I think at the end of the day, it point down to a lot of factors and most especially the personal circumstances that surround them. In some circumstances, it can make the men to have more easy life and for some, it can mean the women have the easy life. At the end of the day, it all points down to differences actually.
