THE DRY SEASON AND PLANTING IN THE NORTH OF GHANA.
In other places of the world, the dry season is always a speculative scenario as people are not sure if it will last for long or it will last for a short time. If I want to be more specific here I think I will be considering Africa here especially in the northern part of the country.
Harmattan in the northern region is one of the reasons why as a farmer i wouldn’t want to stay in the north. At this time of the season, literally everything stops moving for farmers. Streams in the north run dry. Even practicing irrigation at this point is a waist of time.Imagine you having to water your plants every few minutes just because the plants will literally go dry every few seconds.
Well in the south it’s a little different as the fry season doesn’t even seem to pass by that place. Once we were in that part and it was harmattan season. I could only feel the breeze of the fry season in the morning and that happened only on the first day. The following days there was literally nothing to see. This makes it quite easier for farmers there because even if it doesn’t rain a farmer who practices irrigation will get it easier dealing with his plants having to dry up every few minutes due to the weather.
For today I wouldn’t want to talk much but this will be my introduction of the dry season and how it is in the north. In my next post I will be exploring some of the farms in the Northern region of Ghana to show us the effect of the harmattan on our crops and how it really affects the farmers.

Definitely plants need water specially in dry season. And you explained very well
I could see the weather is very dried but the irrigation can help the crop to yield.
