I am very passionate about cocoa and I will love to share with you few information about cocoa.Ghana is the second world biggest cocoa producer,cocoa is cultivated in six regions of Ghana which are the western region, central region, Brong-Ahafo region, Eastern region, Ashanti region and volta region but western region is said to be dominating.

My father work with a cocoa company called Akuafo Adanfo in the Western region, so I've had the opportunity to know more about cocoa.He (my father)also had the opportunity to buy some few cocoa farms from farmers who needed to sell their farms for a reason.Cocoa is an assert in Ghana which contribute massively to the country economy aside Gold,cocoa seedlings are grown normal as any other farm crop,it take five years for cocoa seedlings to grow into cocoa beans.That a long time I must say but it is also wealth it because it take almost forever for a cocoa to die.Unless there is an unfortunate event of any kind of disaster like fire outbreak.

Growing cocoa is an investment because after the long awaited period of it growing into bean it take very long time for it to die,the cocoa pod has a hard shell,it is shaped like a bloated cucumber,and it usually red,yellow or orange.

Cocoa have it own season which is October to September, during this season farmers enjoy large scale of harvest.Being a cocoa famer can be very hectic sometimes because everything is done manually, from weeding the cocoa farm to harvesting the cocoa beans.The farmer remove ripe pod from the trees and open them to extract the wet beans ,they keep it on a plantain roundly and cover it for six days and then start drying it ,drying the cocoa can take 2 -3weeks depending on the weather condition.

Cocoa have several uses which include it medicinal uses,cocoa is use for infectious intestinal diseases,asthma and bronchitis. The seed coat is also used for liver,blader and kidney ailments. Cocoa is also use for chocolates and most beverages and sweets which i know most of us are aware of.It is also use for soaps and can be considered as fruit because we eat the fresh beans when harvested,it has this tastes of sweet lemonade.
