Ashley Turin gives us a full out tour of this, one of the newest Earthship builds on the Taos compound. This sustainable and passive solar home just may give you a few ideas for your own future designs.

Sustainability - Full Documentary

This video explores the rise of the concept of sustainability as it has gone from the fringes to the mainstream within just a few short decades, driven by an environmental crisis on a global scale. In this short documentary film, we explore this new environmental context of the Anthropocene and the key structural transformations in our economy required to achieve sustainability in the age of globalization.

Don't Flush Your Freedom - Full Documentary HD by Film&Clips

Hippie architect Michael Reynolds has spent the past 35 years creating eco-friendly homes known as ‘Earthships’. Using beer cans and tires to hold the structures together, he came up with a way of life that requires none of the traditional household fuels. “Don’t Flush Your Freedom” was filmed over the course of a year and is set in New Mexico, Malawi and the Philippines. It provides an up close and personal view of the EARTHSHIP world and “Biotecture” as invented by the renegade American architect Mike Reynolds.

The Taos area is home to the largest off-grid community on the planet as well as the Earthship academy, attended by enthusiasts from all four corners of the globe. Here, just as at the two majority world builds, the Earthship story and philosophy is told through the voices of the pioneers, volunteers and students that are writing its history.

The film documents a revolution, whose central tenants are radical sustainability without compromise, to transcend the staid social and economic norms that dominate mainstream thinking today.

The movie explores a lifestyle based on renewable resources and community, galvanised by the realization that humanity and the environment are interdependent and in peril. A solution-based vision of the future is being dreamed and created by positive, proactive people, fed-up with generic slogans against governments, corporations and politicians. An army is growing, brandishing picks and shovels, ready to "fight for" rather than "fight against" – battles are being won, one building site after another.

How Can We Address Our Ecological Situation?

Eckhart Tolle is widely recognized as one of the most original and inspiring spiritual teachers of our time. He travels and teaches throughout the world.

Eckhart is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition, but excludes none. His profound yet simple and practical teachings have helped thousands of people find inner peace, healing and greater fulfillment in their lives. At the core of his teachings lies the transformation of individual and collective human consciousness - a global spiritual awakening.

Eckhart Tolle is the author of The Power of Now, a #1 New York Times Bestseller, which has been translated into 32 languages and become one of the most influential spiritual books of our time. In his most recent book, A New Earth, he shows how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world.

Spirituality and Environmental Awareness | Sadhguru

Sadhguru looks at how spirituality and being conscious of every life around us are not different.

When I traveled abroad I was in the, you know, certain conferences, people came up to me and said, "Oh you are that amazing tree planter.' (Laughs) I said, "I am not a tree planter.' They said, "Why you planted millions of trees, didn't you?' I said, "But I am not a tree planter.' So they asked me, "What do you do?' So I said, "I make people flower.' (Laughs) If people flower within themselves, they clearly understand there is nothing here which is not connected to them.

There is nothing in this planet or anywhere in the universe which is not connected to you. If you feel this connection, if this is not an idea in your mind, if this is a living reality for you that you experience everything as a part of yourself, taking care of everything is just like taking care of your body to whatever extent you can do, you do.

So spiritual process and taking care of the world, taking care of the people, taking care of the animal or the plant, are not different because anybody who claims to be spiritual and be… and becomes oblivious to what's around him, there is nothing spiritual about him unless he is also oblivious to himself. Only that being who is oblivious to his own pain, who is oblivious to even his own existence, he can afford to be oblivious to everybody and everything.

As long as you are conscious of your pain and your way of being, you have to be conscious of the way of everything that's happening around you; there is no other way to be.

God, Nature and Man Understanding Environmental Protection

The Sathya Sai International Organisation (SSIO) has established an Environmental Sustainability Committee (ESC) to promote spiritual solutions to our present day environmental crisis. The SSIO implements a wide range of initiatives around the world to protect the planet, including education programmes, a Young Adults led initiative called Serve the Planet, community engagement projects, etc. There are several SSIO publications that explain the spiritual basis for addressing the environmental crisis in a sustainable and practical manner.
