Campus Connect Weekly Contest - Week 23 - My Dream Job After Graduation By @wilosmith

Hello everyone, First and foremost I want to appreciate @campusconnect for organizing this special contests. One knowing what he / she is going to venture in after graduation is very important as it helps to prepare oneself ahead of time. Like the popular proverb that says:

The proverb above is self explanatory. It means while you are in school, you should be able to decide on the dream job your want to venture in after graduation then plan towards it for it to be successful. It simply means using your time in school judiciously to plan for your future .

Secondly, am a student of medical laboratory science. Currently Studying in university of Nigeria Enugu campus. Medical laboratory science was never my first choice when applying for admission into the higher institution but thankfully I was given medical laboratory sciences instead. Medical laboratory science is a five(5) years course and to be honest I have fallen in love with it.

Furthermore, the reason I want to take up medical laboratory science as my dream job after graduation is not just because am passionate about it but because I want to save life’s . Someone that practices medical laboratory science as a profession is known as a scientist . In the hospital , scientists work hand in hand with the doctor’s to help ensure a patient gets the right treatment. The work of a scientist is to design, undertake and analyse information from controlled laboratory-based investigations and experiments . All the investigations and experiments are carried out in laboratory by the scientists. The major investigations are carried out on stool, urine and blood.

In addition, Am going to establish my own laboratory after my graduation so as to to reach out to patient who does not have enough funds to carry out a test in federal hospitals. The aim of the laboratory is to subsidize the cost for the patients in order to save their lives. To achieve this I invested in crypto which I believe is going to help me raise more funds. I also carry out dry cleaning services in school at the moment and part of the earnings goes into my savings account for this project. Am also learning graphics designing which I believe am going to make some money from it to contribute to this project. Whether or not I get a job in the federal sector am going to still establish myself by opening my own laboratory as I earlier said.

Lastly, as a licensed laboratory scientist you are obliged to carry out an internship program for a period of one(1) year. During this period you are been taught by your senior colleagues in the profession that are known as chiefs . You are also been paid monthly within this period . The last time I checked, an intern in wuse general hospital Abuja, is been paid up to one hundred thousand naira currently so that’s to say a scientist can never go hungry as far as am concerned.

Finally, my candid advice goes to my fellow students who are yet to graduate to use this time they have in school well and draft out their plans of what their dream job is going to be ones they graduate. Thanks and God as you all do so.
