Vagina Prolapse and it's prevention .

Good morning Steemians, I will like to discuss the topic vagina prolapse but before let's have a look at the definition of a prolapse itself.

Introuction

A prolapse is a medical condition where an organ in the body protrudes or descends from it's original position usually through an opening in the body. It occurs when the muscles, tissues and ligaments of the pelvic floor weaken due to stress and stretch.

Types of Prolapse

There are majorly 6 types of Prolapse. They include;

  • Cystocele:
    This occurs when the bladder drops onto the anterior vagina wall, causing the vagina tissues to protrudes out.
  • Enterocele:
    This occurs when the intestines drops on the vagina, leading to protrusion of vagina tissues.
  • Rectocele: This occurs when the rectum bulge into the posterior vagina wall, causing vagina tissue protrusion.
  • Rectal prolapse:
    This is simply dropping of the rectum into the anus due to weak rectal support.
  • Uterine prolapse:
    This occurs when the uterus descends into the vagina opening.
  • Vagina Prolapse: This occurs when the vagina protrudes out of the vagina orifice.

Prolapse Vagina

This is a type of Prolapse that occurs when the vagina loses its support and descends down from the vagina opening.

Causes of Vagina Prolapse

Vagina Prolapse is caused by weakness of the supporting structures surrounding the vagina leading to the dropping or descends of the vagina. There are some events that can cause vagina prolapse:

  • Multiple childbirth via spontaneous vagina delivery.
  • Difficult labor
  • Pelvic organ Cancer
  • Lifting of heavy objects
  • Surgery like hysterectomy

Signs and Symptoms

  • Painful intercourse.
  • Feeling of something is dropping out of the vagina.
  • Vagina spotting or bleeding.

Treatment

It is best to see your gynaecologist or women's health Physiotherapist if you notice any of these anormalies.

Prevention

One can reduce there chances of having vagina prolapse through;

  • Daily exercises; precisely Kegal exercise to strengthen the pelvic floor muscle.
  • Proper lifting technique
  • Health lifestyle of proper feeding and avoid smoking
