INTRODUCTION

Abraham Maslow , a psychologist devised a theory of human need for gratification and for basic human needs .He uses pyramid to drive home his points starting the lower level needs to be satisfied before the individual attempts to satisfy need of higher level.

Abraham found that individuals who satisfy their need are healthier, happier and more effective that those who needs are unsatisfied.

• PHYSIOLOGICAL NEEDS

The physiological needs are the lowest in the pyramid and the most essential does they have the highest priority over the other needs. This is because the are vital for human survival. They include the need for air ,water ,food,sleep,rest sexual reproduction and clothing.

• SAFETY AND SECURITY

These needs comes next and include business security employment, resources ,health and priority .The needs becomes more complex and people want to control and order in their lives .They want shelter and protection from harmfull factors in the environment and they feel secure in Familiar environment and with people they trust.

• LOVE AND BELONGING NEEDS

This needs are otherwise called Social needs and include need for love, belonging, acceptance ,family ,friends and relationships.It is important for this needs to be met to avoid loneliness depression and anxiety.

• ESTEEM NEEDS

Self-esteem need is the need to feel good about anxiety to hold one a high regard.Self-esteem needs also involves the need for appreciation or respect.People need to says that they are valued by others and that’s their efforts are recognized.Those people develop feelings of inferiority complex ,inadequacy weakness. Family and friends can encourage them and support them.

• SELF ACTUALIZATION

Self-actualization is the highest level of my needs .self actualization means self aware being concerned with his personal growth and less concerned about opinion of others.it is the need to achieve full potential as human beings,through full development of ones unique capabilities.it include the need for cognition (knowledge) .
