INTRODUCTION

first off i want to appreciate everyone of you in this great community and at the same time wish you all a happy new month of February.

Getting education is very vital in our society today but implementing what we have learn in the course of studying is more expedient. Most of the invention we are enjoying today all come through some revealed principles. At the same time, some diseases that are threaten human health today also came through some laboratory works.

Hence its very important we know the capability of our course of study. we might actually be sitting on a world solution but we wont know., that why i decided to bring up this topic, so that as student , we wont just read to pass but also to impact our society positively and to proffer a lasting solution to some human needs

MY COURSE AND WHY I CHOOSE IT

when i made a choice of course, i actually intended studying chemistry, but what i saw on Jamb portal was Applied Chemistry. prior to that time, i was so scared of chemistry. i remember visiting a university department one particular year and i saw some chemical structured drew on the board, i stood for some time to look at those structures, within me i shrugged my shoulder and said i can't deal abeg.

But when it was time for me to go to the higher institution, i said i want to study the hardest course (LOL), so i decided to choice chemistry related course, hence i choose Applied Chemistry.

THE IMPORTANCE OF APPLIED CHEMISTRY TO OUR WORLD

As the name applies, Applied chemistry uses the method or law of chemistry to proffer solution to challenges. Almost everything that is existing in life is made up of chemistry including human beings.

everything we relate with life is made up of chemistry, the plastic chairs, the house building, our bathing soap, the drugs we take , the television we watch , the cream we use just to mention but a few.

Applied chemistry uses some scientific guidelines to carryout research that will bring solution to human needs. for instance if an Applied chemist wants to solve the problem of skin care., probably the product is not effective enough to stops a fair person from tanning when exposed to sunlight. it is the duty of the applied chemist to create a photoprotective product like a sunblock cream with a good sun protection factor (SPF) that will protect the fair person's skin from getting tanned when exposed to UVlight. This is just one of the numerous examples of the problems that an Applied chemist solves.

They also play a very vital role in the pharmaceutical industry, confectioneries, soap and detergent manufacturing industries etc.

Unlike pure chemistry that only major on adding more knowledge , applied chemistry goal is to apply the knowledge .
basically, applied chemistry is the brain behind every product you see in a store, they specialize in solving real life problems.

SOME BACKDRAWS

• To set a standard industry with all the necessary facilities is pretty capital intensive . This has acted as a stumbling block for those that would love to go into real production.

• some research materials are readily unavailable, even if its available , it will be way too expensive.

• Most High school graduates in this part of the world, prefer to work in other sectors like banking sectors, politics, commerce etc. This in turn create a great vaccum in the applied chemistry world , hence defeating the purpose for which the course was studied

CONCLUSION

it is very imperative that we know the usefulness of our feild of study to humanity. This will propel us to put more effort in becoming the best in that field and to also stay focused.
