Hello everyone,

My name is Ani Kenechuwku Joseph. I'm a final year student of the University Of Nigeria Nsukka. Where I'm currently studying Economics and here is a picture of me and a course mate on a regular school day. Lol😂.

Well this is my entry into the Campus Connect Weekly Contest - Week 13 -" 24 hours as a Vice Chancellor of your University". Please Seat back and enjoy.

24 HOURS AS THE VICE CHANCELLOR

To be very honest there are so many things to do and implement as there are so many defaults in my school "University of Nigeria" And if i begin to point them out we might sleep here for two weeks, lol.

However, if i'm given the chance to become the VC of the Prestegious University Of Nigeria, Nsukka for just 24hours. i will immediately implement a few things which i will iron out on this post.

• Firstly, i would like to say that my rule as the Vc would be extremely democratic and transparent. To make this happen i will conduct an emegerency meeting with the student union government. The reason for meeting with the student government body, is because they represent the interest of all the students in the University.
  So working hand in hand with the student representative would enhance the effectiveness of my reign as the Vc as well as would give me an idea of what the students in the school needs.

• Secondly, it is no longer news that the state of Unn hostels are in a huge mess. A while ago pictures from the Boys hostel went viral and i was extremely disgusted with my school. Student live like wild animals instead of humans. they lack so many basic things there. The rooms are messed up, the toilets and bathrooms are totally in a bad state, the whole place is like a death trap zone. Plus the issue of over crowding in the hostels must stop. To do this i will sign contracts with investors that would help to ensure that new female and male hostels projects are put in place immediately. • Thirdly, UNN is an overpopulated school. Students always struggle for seats so as to attend lectures. So making the classroom comfortable for learning is a must happen by providing adequate seats is a must happen. So i will immediately source for funds to add more seats in the faculty and departmental halls as well as fund the lecture halls with modern equipments like boards, fans and in class room wifi.

• Finally, there is an adage that says cleanness is next to Godlessness.
  So therefore it is really disheartening that to see cleaners in the school going on strike. Therefore i would use my power as the Vc to squash the issue of cleaners going on strike. I would do this by ensuring that they are paid as at when due and we all know the school cleaners do a lot of job in ensuring our school is kept clean so stopping the issue of them going on strike is neccessary.
