Reasons why prostitution thrives in tertiary institutions and possible solutions ( 50% to @campusconnectng)

Introduction

Hello every one this is my first post asides my achievement posts. My friend @swaylee recommended this community as one of the best to start from as a Nigerian student. I have a lot of campus related topics I would love to share. Here is an example of one of them ; I'll be talking about prostitution in tertiary institutions and possible solutions .

Over the years prostitution has been a norm in tertiary institutions infact in the world at large. Government policies and laws have been put in place to curb this immoral act but all to no avail .

The perpetrators of these acts always device means to go about this ungodly act regardless of the effort put in by the government to eradicate such act from our society which has now degenerated to hookup we find in our tertiary institution in recent days .The major reasons why prostitution/hookup thrive in recent days, I feel is primarily because of lack of proper orientation, humans insatiable needs and poverty.

If I were to use Nigeria as a case study, where every citizen is solely responsible for their welfare, minimum wage is 30k regardless of your marital status, serious hike in prices of food stuffs, unemployment is at its peak. It is more like an 'all man for himself' situation or 'survival of the fittest ' so everybody is forced to think out of the box and make it big by hook or by crook. In a bid to make ends meet in a very unfriendly place like Nigeria some girls/ladies settle for using what they have to get what they want (prostitution). When they engage in these said activities for money, some of this gals lose themselves completely, some contract sexually transmitted infections (STI) while some unlucky ones lose their lives to violence and other unforseen circumstances.

In a bid to put an end to this ungodly act, the government needs to start from the root of our problems which is unemployment by creating jobs, secondly there should be and awareness campaign on the dangers of indulging in such an act, next the minimum wage should be increased because of the bad state of the economy of the country so as to balance income and expenditure and finally the government should make the country conducive for external investors by improving road networks, provision of social amenities, review their tax rates and some other things included.

I feel by so doing we'll be able to boost the country's economy and these gals will have better options than selling their bodies for peanuts on both social platforms and on streets .
