Don't give up by @colonel2070

If is 12:50 and I can't sleep. I am thinking of this book, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho.

Inasmuch as I will admit the beauty, philosophy and mystic quality of this book, I must say that I am not as thrilled with the book than I am thrilled about the story about the book

This is what I mean, five months after the publication, only a copy was sold, and later another copy was sold to the same buyer.

The original publisher considered the work a failure and cut off the contract with the author, Paulo. But the writer knew what he wrote and he didn't give up on his vision.

It took one American to read the book, take it home to America from Brazil and translate it to English and it started selling but just about five thousand copies

But there was a twist, it took Bill Clinton, Will Smith and others to talk about the book. President Clinton was just captured with the book and you know what influence does.

That is how The Alchemist met its fortune years after publication. It took just few influential people to recommend it and it became a New York Times Bestseller for weeks and then the whole embraced it

Sometimes in life we just need one right person to acknowledge and recommend our years of labour and our lives change for good. So long as we don't stop doing the best in what we do, one day the right people will meet us and our stories will change

When you want to throw in the towel, remember five months after publication, one of the most read books in the world only sold two copies. A bad begining does not surmise a bad ending except we give up on our dreams
