Hiking in Autumn Forest. Wondrous Day Somewhere in Nigeri

Boys are always boys even if they are over forty: a journey into the wild for foraging on lingonberries turned into collecting magic mushrooms and tripping at night. I have already described our night adventure but, in this post, I want to share the beauty of the day.

A train station in the middle of nowhere, somewhere between Saint Petersburg and Finland. I can't tell the name - my mates asked me to keep it in secret.

Pine forests dominate there. But they are a wrong place for shrooms.

On our way to the field that we wanted to say hello to and see what's among its grass.

Tall grasses are cute but searching shrooms among them are hell, we needed something shorter.

At last.

A friend of mine was excitedly repeating: the field has revealed itself!

It has. We had known the place but never could find a lot. This year, three of us found 500 pieces altogether. HALF A THOUSAND!

I found this creek and it meant a potential adventure in the thickets .... in search of mossy pictures but ... my legs and back were giving up after a day of crouching in the field.

We had not much time. We needed to get rest and get prepared for a night shroom trip... I had a bite and relaxed on a travel mat for while. Then, I started collecting wood for the night fire while my friends were still kilometers away on their way back with plastic bottles filled with lingonberries. Meanwhile twilight gave way to night.
