RE: Campus Connect Engagement League week 1- Effects of Asuu strike on students in Nigeria

in CampusConnect2 years ago (edited)

Yes every strike will always come to an end but the question is when will it come to an end? Taking notice of the current situation Nigeria in terms of debt both internationally and locally the government seems to be at the brink of bankruptcy and thus cannot afford to settle all the aggrieved parties. The talks between ASUU and the Federal has stalled and as it stands we are not seeing any light at the end of the tunnel, lets say we are in a state of limbo.

If it is one thing I am certain about, is that this current government is totally out of touch with the need of its people. Wasteful and extravagant spending of borrowed money is what has brought us to this point. The government spends more than what it makes, hence our reserves are in shambles.

Lecturers and student(Public Schools)alike are feeling the heat, no employee will work without a pay check, these lecturers are people with family, they are the educators of the nation and like they say education is the key but as it stands the government has failed to pay it's workers now the customers (Students) are paying the price. I don't blame ASUU, because our education system is a disaster. If we don't get it right now it will be terrible. Infact it is terrible because we never got it right in previous administrations.

Now students have to seek other alternatives because an idle mind is a devil's workshop, this prolonged strike will buttress the point of education nah scam fc . The strike will encourage brain drain in public universities and the country at large, because it will force students to foster their education else where and many wouldn't want to come back. Students may start engaging in cyber crime thus losing total focus in their studies.

What the federal government and the union can do to end this strike is for the government to uphold its side of the deal, revive our universities for good because they are poorly funded and it is telling on the quality of education we are receiving

It's just sad how much pain and disappointment we have had to go through. Total disruption of individual student timelines, students end up spending more time in the univeristy than they are supposed to.

I really hope things changes as soon as possible and we get back to our classes and study, its our future wr are talking about here.

Dear friend I don't think we are even anywhere near the end of the tunnel as we have not heard the federal government giving any positive response to ASUU

So many people have already given up on education cause of the reoccurring strikes. It's really sad but man has no option but to adapt.
