Drug Abuse is a bad habit that change a person's life and most effective Among students, students embark on this harmful journey because of self pleasure and excitement. Over the years the number of students abusing drugs have increased exponential and this can greatly affect their health and academia well. In this post, I'll explain why student engage in this behaviour and how to overcome them.
Drug Abuse is the harmful intake of chemical substances initially created to heal sick people but instead taking it for the pleasure of the stimulant. The drugs makes the person to feel above the world and making him/her unconscious of their environment. Drugs can be taken in different ways as stated below:
- Oral Method
These types of drugs are taken into the body by the use of the mouth. It's the most used method of ingesting drugs into the Body.
- Injectorary method
These drugs are taken in by the use of an Injection Tool and the syrum/drug is injected into the body through skin. This method is painful depending on the patient.
- Nasal Method
Drugs are taken into the body by the use of the nose. It involves sniffing in of powered drugs through the nose and into the Body. Examples of this type of drug is Cocaine.
There are many reasons why students embark into drug abuse and these reasons are:
- Peer Influences
Student can become a drug addict by those who surrounds him. Friends are what makes a person perform activities whether positively or negatively, if his/her friends are those already influenced by drug abuse then you might also want to try it as first then later on begin to get addicted.
- Families
Families issues and crisis can jeopardize a student's life and they might want to embark on drug for pleasure and peace from all the problems they're facing. If families are broken or at the peak of breaking up, then it'll be bad for the student as it'll affect them physically and emotionally.
- Mental health
Most times student embark on this harmful journey due to depression and any other emotional and psychological dysfunction. Students can think about drug abuse when the following thoughts come through their head; Suicidal thoughts, Personality disorders and Conduct problems. These factors can make anyone to endulge his/her self into drug abuse.
- Social and economic consequences
If the ongoing economic and social well being are high and inefficient, it can affect a student's life. If student that are dependent of their self and no adult supervision is given to them, they can result into drug abuse to ease the depression and anxiety they're experiencing.
If any of the signs below are shown in a person's behavior, then that person must have been addicted to drugs:
- Feeling/thinking Of Taking Drugs regularly for survival
- Experiencing Intense Urge for drugs that stimulates the brain.
- The person feels to need more drugs for same effects.
- The person makes sure there's a daily supply of the drug.
- The person spends a lot of money on the drug or even collect loans to buy them.
- Avoiding social interaction, work and responsibilities because of drug use.
- The person does anything possible to try and get the drug
- The person continues to use the drug even when he/she knows it's not right.
Anyone can prevent him/herself from engaging in drug abuse by doing the following things:
- Avoiding Bad influences from peers/friends
- Proper education on the negative effects of drugs
- seeking medical advice when experiencing health problems
- seeking phycologist when going through emotional distress.
- working hard to take care of yourself
I believe with everything said above, anyone can prevent their self from engaging in such bad habit. Thanks for reading..
