Steemit Engagement Challenge 2/ How Steem Changed my life for Better life

Am so glad to be here today and to be a part of this weeks engagement challenge thanks to steemit team for this initiative. Special thanks to this amazing community for hosting this contest this week.

I will be sharing with you all how steemit has changed my life for better life. I hope you enjoy reading.

HOW I GOT TO KNOW ABOUT STEEMIT

Steemit we a know is a social media platform built on a decentralised blockchain. Which rewards the users who makes quality and original contents.

I joined steemit in the month of February 2021. I live in the western part of Nigeria, precisely Lagos state. So every Christmas season i usually travel to the eastern part of Nigeria precisely imo state either for our church national conference that holds in The month of December or i travel back to my home town for Christmas.

December 2020 i travelled to Imo state for my church conference and during those times in the conference, i kept hearing this particular woman in my church talk to other members about steemit. I did not understand what she was talking about because she has not come to tell me any thing about it. The conference lasted until The month of January 2021.

One night during the conference, i sat close to this woman called @ceendy20 and i heard her again speaking to a lady about steemit, i paid close attention but the only thing i heard her say was you need to write to be paid. I went home thinking about it.

The next day when i came for the the conference, i made up my mind i would go and meet her so that she can tell me about what she has been telling other. When i finally saw her that morning i was excited. I walked straight to her, after greeting her, i told her i would like to know what she has been telling others about. She smiled at me, and we both sat down. @ceendy20 began telling me what i need to know about steemit. She shared her stories of how good steemit has been to her. She told me i dont need to be an expert in writing before i join, she said i can always learn through the achievements task.

Her stories sounded so good to be true. I said to myself are you sure this is not one of those online scam? I told her i would think about it and get back to her. The conference finally ended and i travelled back to my city of residence without joining.

WHY I DECIDED TO JOIN

When i got back to lagos in January 2021 i searched for a flexible job i can do that would not take all of my time but i found non. Infact the city alone is stressful on its own, only the traffic alone on your way to work can fustrate a life.

One day the thought of steemit crossed my mind again and i made up my mind to join. I called @ceendy20 on the phone and told her about my decision and she congratulated me. She put me through with my signup and that was how i joined in the month of february 2021.

• I decided to join steemit because its a job i can do in my comfort zone, i do not need to report to an office or a boss, i can always be my own boss. I can decide to make post anywhere i am and anytime of the day.

• Another reason i joined was because i really needed financial help at that point in my life, I had bills to pay at that time, i had financial issues i needed to be settled so i said to my self "why dont you join and see how it goes since it will really cost you nothing"

• I decided to join steemit because i heard i could meet different people from different continent and countries, states and tribes, so i saw it as an opportunity to socialise and meet new people, to know their culture and way of life.

• I decided to join because i wanted to know how good i was with my writing skills.

HOW STEEMIT AND STEEM CHANGED MY LIFE FOR BETTER

There is no doubt that steemit has been able to transform my life in a very short space of time. Its just one year and three months and i can boldly say a big thank you to steemit.

Steemit has changed my life in the following ways;

• The first area steemit changed my life was in the area of my Finances

After my achievement one post on the new comers community, i got an upvote. It was really encouraging to me. Infact the post paid out 6sbd at that time. I just left the sbd in my wallet, and one morning, i woke up and heard that the price of sbd and steem went up. I was advised to sell my sbd in exchange for my local currency. I converted the sbd to steem and it gave me 78steem and i sold it. That day 1 steem was sold for 400 naira. I made 31,200 naira that day. The joy i felt in my heart that day was unexplainable. And that was the beginning of my financial change.

• Steemit and Steem changed my life by paying for my accommodation

I had just moved into a new city and i needed a place of my own. I kept moving from one friends house to another, not until i saved up some money from the money i had made from steemit. I decided to get an apartment, steemit helped me paid for the accommodation. Even though it took a while to get the accommodation, i finally got it and paying for it was no longer an issue because steemit was there to pay. **I paid a total of 370,000 naira for my accomodation which was about 1230 steem so i now have an accommodation. And since then steemit has paid my rent twice.

• Steemit got me my generator and television

As time went on their was need for me to have a generator since i now work online often and electric power supply was no longer constant. I was tired of going to my neighbours house to power my phone whenever it was low or dead. I decided i needed to buy my own generator so i stepped out to get one

I also got my television to keep me company whenever i want to rest from work or relax my mind.

• Steemit changed my life when i got involved with cryptoacademy weekly home work

I have always loved to know more and better about crypto currencies and what they were all about but i didnt get tge opportunity until i meet steemit. I heard about the weekly lectures and home work on crypto in the crypto academy community. I decided to join so i can learn more. Boom!! What i saw there was mindblowing the lecturers took their time to teach and access students performance weekly. I was wowed and i decided to join. I think i joined the academy either in season 2 or 3 i cant really place it. I leant so much from there for fee. My exposure to cryptoacademy gave me so much knowledge that i would have paid so much to get outside. Now i know what cryptocurrencies are, i can even trade alittle even though am not an expert. This knowlege changed my life.

• Steemit and Steemit Changed my life by connecting me to friends i never knew before

Through steemit i have been able to make lovely friends in other cities and countries, some i have met now while some am yet to meet. Without steemit i dont think i would have been able to make such friends. Am so glad i met steemit. Am this kind of people that loves the company of people. So when i joined steemit i looked for possible ways to connect to people. And some of the friends have met here includes.

Pics 1 was a visit to an orphanage home here in the city of lagos. We bought some items for the kids even though we were not allowed to see the childreen because of the covid19 policy. The officials were happy to have us around.

Pic 2 was a picture of a promotinal activity we held in the university of lagos Nigeria in front of Access bank. We held the promotional activity to promote steemit and get new bies signed up. It was really fun. We printed t-shirt, banner and fliers and we used them as a medium of publicity to the students and those who came around foe Sports activities.
