Introduction

I am delighted to make this important presentation about my Steemit Jounrney so far, and how I have shown kindness to lots of other friends by introducing Steemit to them. For the sake of clarity, this story will have two sections as follows

• Section 1: How I discovered Steemit and Joined.
• Section 2: How Steemit changed my life and that of my Friends.

Without wasting much time, lets get into details.

Section 1

How I got to know Steemit

My Steemit Journey has quite been a long one, given that many users from my Country Nigeria have not stayed as long as I have done. My steemit journey started on 10th February 2018 when a friend and Christian Brother @emjoe introduced Steemit to me. Before this time, I have been blogging since 2009 on blogspot, and have my Google Adsense account for content publishers. I also obtained a Higher national Diploma in Computer Science in 2014. So blogging and ICT was already my professional career. Mr. @emjoe signed me up and showed me a few things about Steemit and that was the beginning of my Steemit journey.

Why I joined Steemit

Like I said, I was a content publisher under Google Adsense Program. I still have my Adsense account till date. I spent years writing and publishing on at least 4 of my blogs linked to my Adsense account. However, the earnings were very small. At the end of each year, I pay for domain and web hosting, but was not making anything reasonable at all. So When @emjoe, who knows that I am a blogger, told me about Steemit and the opportunity to learn, connect with people and earn more, I did not waste time to join.

Section 2

How Steem Changed my Life

Steemit and Steem have transformed my life in more ways than one. I would like to narrow it down to 3 ways as follows:

1. Financial Assistance: I decided to start with this because that was one of the reasons that made me join Steemit. Google Adsense could not sustain me financially. So In addition to my Web designing business, i was looking for another way to make money from writing. Steemit has more than exceeded my expectations. If I say that I have made a lot of money through Steemit, that will not be overstatement. I have used the money I made from Steemit to better my life and that of my family. Let me talk a little about how Steemit has made my business better.

The first major thing I did with the money I made on Steemit was to establish a standard business facility which doubled as our Steemit training center. On April 2021, I rented a full flat at the center of Aba city and started to furnish it. While I intended to use this place as our Steemit training center, it also doubled as a business location where I run other ICT business. By the ending of April 2021, I have spent the current equivalent of 6,200 Steem to make the center look great. You can see the images I took while setting up the center.

Besides using the money I made from Steemit to set up an office, my standard of living and that of my family has greatly improved. I have assisted my two younger sisters to finish up high school each from Senior Secondary 1. Currently, I take care of 50% of family expenditure weekly. I also supported a lot of friends financially to set up their business, or to solve other financial challenges. That I still do Steemit as a full-time business shows how much it has turned my financial life around. For this, I will be forever grateful.

2. Writing Skill: Steemit has given me the opportunity to improve my ability as a writer. I picked up the interest to write as a blogger. But I have never been as polished as i am now. Steemit has helped learn what it takes to create unique, original content. Through the different writing projects on the plattform, I am able to learn how to make better presentations, do proper research and write comprehensively.

Over the years, the Steemit team has produced projects that unconsciously helped me develop my content creation skills. There are many of them, but i will not fail to mention Projects like My town in 10 Pictures, Diary Game, Crypto Academy, and now, the Engagement challenge. All these projects and more have trained me to develop into a well-rounded content creator. Aside from being able to make great publications now, the writing skills I have learnt here is even helping me in other aspects of life such as public speaking.

3. Human Connection: Perhaps one of the greatest gains Steemit has afforded me is the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and connect with them. Steemit has helped me build beneficial human relationships. I have been able to learn from lots of friends that I made here. On a local scale, Steemit has connected me to Nigerians living virtually in every part of the country. If I wish to travel to any Nigerian state now, I will likely know a Steemian that lives in the state.

Taking it beyond, Steemit has given me the opportunity to interact with friends beyond the shores. I have met people from different cultures, language and social upbringing. I have been able to learn about new places and things, that would not have been possible aside from Steemit. I am really grateful to everyone that have connected with me so far on this platform, and I am sure to meet and connect with other great minds here.

How I have used Steemit to perform acts of kindness

Steemit was not too popular in Nigeria when i joined. In fact some time after I came on board, the few Nigerians on Steemit did not continue here with us. So I started a great Steem promotion Project that has made Nigeria a Steemit hotspot today. Here are some things I did to Promote Steemit to my fellow Nigerians, which is still considered kindness.

1. Promotion through Word of mouth, Seminars and Radio Presentations: I started promoting Steemit to my friends and inner circle. I was able to get a lot of people that were close to me join. We started organizing weekly seminars and presentations. I used various rented facilities to conduct trainings for newbies. Gradually, I started building a small group of friends that grew on Steemit, some of whom have become so successfully on Steemit. Like @beckie96830, @whitestallion, @ngoenyi, @samuel20, @meymeyshops, @mesonia, etc. As we grew and continued doing promotion, I did another important thing as you will find out below.

2. Formed SteemAlive Community:When i discovered that there was active community of Nigerians that are actively promoting Steemit, I decided to form SteemAlive community with some of those early friends. Steemalive community has the main aim of promoting Steemit full-time. So as the group of small friends that I gathered grew, we expanded. I appointed city coordinators in various cities and then state representatives. Today we still have group coordinators in States like Lagos, Uyo, Aba, Umuahia, and other places.

Till date, SteemAlive is still actively promoting Steemit in Nigeria. Up to 80% of Nigerians currently active on Steemit must have received assistance directly or indirectly through my promotion work in SteemAlive community. I have organized many Steem promotion projects. One of them is the Steem RoadShow.

3. Steem RoadShow: The Steem Road show is one of the most successful Steem Promotion project ever done in Nigeria. At its peak, this project had more than 200 volunteers simultaneously promoting steem across 5 cities in Nigeria including Lagos and Abuja. It was so successful that many people came to hear about Steemit through this project. Right now, I am still doing Steem Promotion in even better ways.

4. Food4 thought: Food4thought is a Promotion project I launched recently. Through this project, I added an act of kindness to Steem Promotion. Newbies that stayed with us and published consistently for the first 7 days after sign up, will receive food items as gift at the end of their first week. This project is less than 1 month old and just kicked off in Aba. I hope that like other promotion projects, it will be successful and bring in the kin of results I expected.

Conclusion

What a journey it has been so far on this platform. Four years ago, I was a newbie on Steemit, learning how to do some basic things. Today, I have built one of the successful African communities on Steemit. I am proud of my work. I have produced Country Representatives, Academy professors, Community founders, Moderators and hundreds of active bloggers on Steemit. I look back with joy at the little i have done to impact lives. I look to the future with so much confidence as I continue to extend kindness to yet many others through my Steem Promotion Projects.
