Raining in the morning

A single drop.

Scorching heat waves, high temperatures, seizures and collapses, were the words I heard all along the last week while staying in Thailand. Looking for shelter and sipping water were the natural reactions all the time. The moment you feel the freshness of the water, the sense of relaxation, the sense of satisfaction is heaven earlier. Today morning the heavens opened, pouring tears upon the burnt patches of the golf course nearby which might have used to be lush and green. Birds were spotted having the time of their life bathing.

Water drives life on Earth. "A single drop" of water could provide millions of lives. For US humans, similarly to the other animals water play an essential part. As it may seem small and negligible, environmentally the value of a water drop is infinite, for us, a water drop is critical to survival. That is why even though the globe's surface consists of 3% of freshwater while 97% is salt water. Out of that 3% only 1.2% is drinkable. NatGeo

From a medical point of view apart from regulating the body temperature, water

  • protects your tissues, joints and spinal cord
  • helps your body removes waste
  • aids in digestion
  • helps your brain function optimally
  • keeps the cardiovascular system healthy. Source

Further looking into the necessity of water, access to clean and limited drinkable water is an issue.

  • Unsafe water is responsible for 1.2 million deaths each year.
  • 6% of deaths in low-income countries are the result of unsafe water sources.
  • One-in-four people do not have access to safe drinking water.
  • 6% of the world does not have access to an improved water source.

In my country's scenario, safely-managed drinking water is one of the highest for the category.

People using safely managed drinking water services, urban (% of urban population) is 93%.

Let's keep these numbers aside and look back at how we can save and preserve the remaining water contents for future generations. The first thing that comes to my mind is how the Japanese use bath water from the bathing tub to the washing machine to wash clothes. Source They also make use of technology to provide desalinated water and recycle solid wastewater Source.

For all of us, we can at least save this precious resource by small acts such as closing tap while brushing your teeth, applying soap to your hands and using low water flow taps in the household. Because once a drop wasted is a life wasted. In my country, great King Parakramabahu once said that "Do not release even a drop of rainwater to the sea without putting it to good use" in 1100's AD. This reflects how much they cared for the fountain of life. So my request is for all of you to save as much as possible. Do not waste a single drop.

Cheers.

I would like to invite @knightais, @white444 and @kusal to participate.

Only 3% of drinkable water should be saved by us , every drop is precious. thanks for sharing a good information

Hello, yes we are dependent on that. For my child and children all over the world, we must act.
