Hello fellow steemians , a blessed Sunday to y'all, today I'll be participating on SLC22/WK3: Lightning Arresters and Generators by @mahadisalim
Write three basic differences between the electrical generator, motor, and transformer.
Before I'll start giving out the differences between electrical generator,motor and transformer I'll be briefing out their meanings
Electrical Generator: electrical generator is refer to as a device that change mechanical energy into electricity enabling the flow and distribution of electricity through the use of electrical conductors like wires to our homes
Motor: A motor is a device that turns mechanical energy into electricity .In the motor a magnetic energy is present which allows the current flow of electricity to our homes it
Transformer: A transformer is an electrical device that transfers electrical energy from two or more circuits ,The primary use of transformers is step up or step down voltage levels that's capable of carrying loads at our homes

Give details about lightning arresters used in the electricity sector in your country.
Lightning arrester is an instrument that's mounted on top of a building to prevent the strike of lightning on a particular building , and it's always mounted above the building. In most country that the rate of storms is always high it's advisable that each building have a lightning arrester to prevent being strike by lightning . But also lightning arrester can also be mounted on electrical transformers etc
Due to my research and lessons from @mahadisalim,I discovered that the horn gap lightning arrester is used in the power sector of my country and ,it's function is to protect the transformers in particular from lightning strike.
A horn gap lightning arrester is made of two narrow pieces of copper on the bushing of the transformer and the transformer is fitted with insulators placed on its body. Transformers are placed outdoors In case of sudden lightning, the surge voltage is generated by the horn gap lightning arrester and it is sent to the ground through the body earthing of the transformer to protect the transformer from lightning strike.

Solution
Find out KVA
Given that :
30 W-5 light
70 W-3 fans
1500W-1 refrigerator
2000 W-1 air conditioner
(5×30W)+(3×70W)+(1×1500W)+(1×2000W)=3860W
~3.86 KW
PF cos∅=KW/KVA
KVA × cos∅=KW
KVA=KW/cos∅
KVA=3.86/0.8
=4.825 KVA
Buying a generator of an higher rate of at least 20% than the KVA
So therefore
4.825+20%
=5.03 KVA
So 5.03 KVA generator will be needed

Make a lightning arrester to protect your home from lightning and show us step by step with pictures.
It was a practical though so I decided to give it a try at my grandparents house that I went for holidays.
- Step 1: first thing I did was to bring out the material that will be used to make my lightning arrester, after then I took a copper rod , after then I set up the copper rod with a ceramic insulator . So that the insulator ensure that the copper is being separated from the other metal in case of the lightning strike the won't be current in the rod .
Step 2: after I was done mounting the arrester, I came down from the ladder climbing up the ceiling to pass out the wire from the roof , though climbing the ceiling isn't a new habit of mine and it was easy though
Step 3: After mounting the arrester at the roof I moved next to dig the ground to make earthing
- Step 4: Then after I was done digging the ground and made my earthing
After i was done with the earthing I connected a 6RM cable from the earthing back to the copper rod at the roof , so that during surge voltage the excess current can go through this cable to earthing.

It was really an amazing topic to deal ,all thanks to @mahadisalimi can now make a homemade lightning arrester that's so affordable , I really appreciate you for your time and effort.
