Thank you for organizing this special contest. I must commend you for the diligence you have exerted for two years and three months in building and maintaining this amazing community. It can only be a product of hard work and discipline which we are discussing today.

What is the definition of discipline?

Discipline is a careful control of the way we live, work or behave in order to achieve a particular goal. We all have a purpose or what we intend to achieve on our day to day living. Having these intentions are not enough.

We must carefully control ourselves through discipline for us to achieve our intended purposes. With out discipline, it’s like we can barely achieve anything. Discipline involves us doing the needful even when we don’t feel like it.

For example, as a student , if you want to have good grades, you must have to discipline yourself to sit down and study well else you will fail and your expectations of good grades would only be in vain.

Do you think it's essential to maintain discipline in our personal and professional lives? Why?

The subject of maintaining discipline in our personal lives and professional lives cannot be over emphasized. Have you noticed that the human body does not like stress or anything that would disturb it.

The body only wants to eat and sleep and play and watch movies. If these are all we do in life then we wouldn’t even amount to anything. For us to be valuable, we must then ensure that we discipline ourselves to focus on what we want to achieve and ensure it’s achieved.

No person succeeds without conscious exercise of discipline. Things do not just fall into our laps when we fold our hands and do nothing. Every great story of success had discipline and diligence underline it.

For example how was our contest host @meraindia able to build a community and maintain it for two years and three months and counting?

There were days when she had to make posts even when she didn’t feel like. She had to carry the admins and Mods along, she had to give instructions, curate, correct, bringing up endless contest ideas and things that would make the community work and some days sleepless nights.

I’d only she would share a smidgen of all the stress and pains and inconveniences she has passed through these years and months. You would see that discipline would not be divulged from it. Discipline is an integral part of success.

The work of discipline in our lives cannot be over emphasized. Discipline helps us in so many ways;

• Discipline helps us to succeed in our personal and professional lives and all endeavors. There is no success without discipline.

• Discipline deals with laziness and excuses. A disciplined person would not give excuses on why something wasn’t done but would rather do it.

• Discipline makes us a person of value. When you are valuable, people would love to work with you.

• Discipline gives us focus and helps us produce results.

• A disciplined person stands out amongst the equals.

• Discipline is a great virtue to be imbibed for success in every facet of life. Discipline brings self control.

• Discipline coupled with diligence will make us rise to the top of our career.
