Time to check my paint and brushes.

The paint is stored in a cold place and I noticed of some tubes the texture changed which causes irritation since a few years. There are quite a few (opened) tubes of acrylic paint. What can no longer be used I will throw away but I intend to try all tubes out, one by one.

As you can see, there there are many brushes and this is not just because we use this crate with several people but because I use a different brush for each colour.

With some regularity, I see photos that show very sad brushes. I wonder how these can be used for painting (special technique?) and why they are not cleaned after use.

What you see at the photos are not the most expensive brushes and paint one can buy. Everything you see and in use is years old and by years I mean 5+ if not 10+ years out. This with the exception of the tubes of glitter paint and the small tubes of paint with the somewhat odd colours (4+ years).

For larger surfaces, I often use a sponge or a piece of sponge. I cut this off a pan sponge and these pieces can be washed out very well (and are also in use for many years).
I use a piece of cardboard as a palette. This works very well.

You can see the difference in texture of the paint.

Colours can be mixed. I tried to change the texture of the orange colour by mixing it without any result.

No black paper, making a new start? Use black paint (I used a piece of sponge)

It took over one day to dry

Because of the cold I cleaned up and left. Frozen fingers is no fun.

I did not throw away the paint I used but placed it in a pie box.

After two days the paint looks like this. Good enough to use.

If you don't have much money you can paint. Take care of your materials and don't waste what you have. Don't put too much pressure on the brush and clean immediately after you stop.
No brush? You can paint with literaly everything: your finger, sponge, paper, cotton stick. Innaverage I paint with dry brushes or those I just cleaned.
Be creative.
