El dulce de lechoza o papaya es uno de los postres más tradicionales de mi país Venezuela, se consume principalmente en época decembrina, si quieres conocer la receta te invito a leer completo este post.
Happy Tuesday everyone, today I will share with you the recipe of a very traditional and easy to make Venezuelan dessert, I hope you like it.
Papaya dessert is very traditional in my country Venezuela, it is consumed mainly in December, if you want to know the recipe I invite you to read this post in its entirety.
Es muy delicioso, la lechoza queda firme y suave por dentro, bañada en una salsa acaramelada de papelón
It is very delicious, the papaya is firm and soft inside, bathed in a caramel sauce of papelón.
INGREDIENTES / INGREDIENTS:
- 2 kilos de lechoza muy verde / 2 kilos of very green papaya.
- 12 tazas de agua / 12 cups of water.
- 1 papelón
- Cascaras de naranja / Orange peels.
PREPARACIÓN / PREPARATION:
- Se retira la concha de la lechoza, se abre a la mitad y se retiran las semillas y se corta en tajadas muy delgaditas, de 1/2 a 1 cm. de grueso por 10 a 12 cm. de largo, se extienden sobre una bandeja, deben dejarse al sol por un día, para que se mantengan firmes.
The shell of the papaya is removed, it is opened to the half and the seeds are removed and it is cut in very thin strips, from 1/2 to 1 cm. of thickness for 10 to 12 cm. of length, they are extended on a tray, they should be left in the sun for one day, so that they stay firm.
- En una olla grande se pone la lechoza con agua que la cubra, las 10 de tazas de agua. Se lleva a hervor y se cocina a fuego fuerte y tapado por unos 2 a 3 minutos. Se cuela a través de un colador, se lava bien con agua fría corriente y se pone aparte.
In a big pot put the papaya with water that covers it, the 10 cups of water. Bring to a boil and cook over high heat, covered, for 2-3 minutes. Strain through a sieve, wash well with cold running water and set aside.
- Se debe poner a derretir el papelón con las 2 tazas de agua restante. Luego se le agrega la papaya y la cascara de naranja, Se lleva a hervir y se cocina destapado 1 hora 30 minutos o hasta que el almíbar espese.
Melt the papelón with the remaining 2 cups of water. Then add the papaya and orange peel, bring to a boil and cook uncovered for 1 hour 30 minutes or until the syrup thickens.
Así se prepara el dulce de lechoza venezolano.
