Growing Older Doesn't Mean Growing Wiser

Shocking right?

There's an assumption that as we get older we will get wiser; not really true I'm afraid. The truth is that we carry on just being as dumb as we were, still making lots and tons of mistakes. We learn from these mistakes and experiences and might not make the same mistakes again, but there's a box of new and bigger mistakes waiting for us to just take the bait and fall into. The message is to accept this fact and not trash yourself over when you make them again. Life is a daring adventure, and there are no better ways to learn of life without attempting it with blind-luck which would often lead us into mistakes.

"Be kind to yourself when you soil things up. Be forgiving and be one step ahead by understanding that you are growing older but not really wiser."

Most of us are caught up in our past mistakes that we fail to realise that there's a whole new ones waiting for us in the future. Wisdom I know, isn't about making mistakes or not making mistakes, it is about making mistakes and taking an exit with our dignity, self-esteem and sanity intact.

Let's take a look at the growing-older-wiser-mistake issue in another light. The older you get, the more areas you've covered to make mistakes in and the more experiences this will bring you. It's been proven that the more mistakes we make the more chances of our successes in life. So, it's imperative that you experience life to the fullest and also understand that you will make tons of mistakes while trying to do this.

As long as we can look back in retrospection and resolve not to repeat such mistakes, we are good to go. Remember that any rules that apply to you also apply to everyone else around you. They are all getting older too and not necessarily wiser. Accepting this will help you become more forgiving to yourself and others.

Finally, the interesting thing is that if you get your mistakes over and done with early enough in life, there will be less to learn the hard way later on. That's what youth is all about, the chance to get all the experiences you can by making more mistakes and getting done with them.
