Children and pigeons

Since the birth of our son, we often went for a walk to the park, where there are many pigeons. We watched with emotion as mothers feed pigeons together with their children.

Naturally, when the son grew up, we also began to buy seeds or bread and fed the birds. The child was happy, together with him and we, well, what else do parents need !?

And if a pigeon sat on its hand and takes food, then there is generally a lot of delight both among children and adults.

Some gather around them a huge number of birds, feed, rejoice, take pictures without suspecting that a large percentage of birds are infectious and very dangerous, especially for a small, not yet matured child's body.

And cute birds are sick with psittacosis. I will not describe the symptoms, anyone interested can find in the bowels of the Internet.
Absolutely everyone can get infected, no one is immune from such a nuisance. When the birds take off, all the dust flies to our nose, mouth, and thus gets to our lungs. Of course, this does not mean that everyone must get infected, but still it is better not to risk your health.
But people fed, feed and will feed pigeons, because it is interesting for children, some in this way teach their children to love animals and nature. And all this is good, but you need to at least keep some distance, not hand-feed or take the birds in your hands.

Of course, the ideal option is to make a feeder where you can add food and admire the birds from the side with the child.
