This insect is known as Phyllium giganteum which can be found throughout Southeast Asia and parts of Australia. I found it while doing a mountain hike in Central Aceh, to be precise in the mountain area of the Takengon tribe. This insect is clearly visible because it is walking on a log.
making it easier for me to observe it.
if we don't pay attention to it, this insect at first glance is indeed similar to the green dau. This animal has a great ability to resemble some other form such as a leaf. This ability is called mimicry. Some of these animals perform mimicry to protect themselves from predators. One form that is often imitated by this animal is leaves.Uniquely, the animal's ability to imitate what looks real like a real leaf.
Because of its unique shape, many countries make it a pet.How to maintain it is easy, just put it in an aquarium containing pieces of twigs and leaves for food.Most concern is the temperature in the cage remains moderate. If there is a change in temperature, these insects can lose their legs when shedding their skin.
