The Guardian Iracema Statue - Fortaleza Brazil
Fortaleza is located on the northeast coast of Brazil in the state of Ceará and is known as a vacation destination boasting large numbers of both national and international visitors. My girlfriend is from Fortaleza and I visited there in the spring of 2015, just after Carnival.
A coastal city, Fortaleza has two main beach areas; Praia do Futuro and Beira Mar. This lovely statue inspired by a tragic Brazilian folktale is found along the boardwalk of Beira Mar. I captured both day and night images of the statue but thought the daytime ones were more striking.
Due to the nature of crime in Fortaleza (mugging is very common) I didn't carry any expensive electronics with me, this photo was taken using a very old and cheap digital camera.
