As Salamu Alaikum (peace be upon you)
Hi everyone I'm @shishir103
Hope you're well.

Today I am here with an exclusive publication. You'll see it only in the Muslim majority regions of the world. It's about a market of cattle. It’s an occasional market. It's only organised before Eid-ul-Adha(One of the main festivals of the Muslims). This festival is about sacrificing cattle for the gratification of Allah. So there are markets for muslims to trade cattle for the festival.

In every locality where Muslims live such kind of market is arranged. These are organised by the local after an auction. It’s organised in a big empty place like playgrounds, Stadiums or there are places named as 'Gohati'(Cow market) in every main areas of every countries basically in Bangladesh.

The market you can see in these pictures is Hili cattle market. Hili is a famous locality in Bangladesh. It's a place in the Northern part of the country in the district of Dinajpur, which is famous for the second largest land port of Bangladesh. The place is Banglahili pilot school and college where it held. As I mentioned It’s a temporary market. As the Educational institutes are closed due to the global pandemic.

I went there the day before yesterday with my brother & my cousin to buy a goat. This year we are going to sacrifice a goat. As the corona virus breakout it was a shutdown in Bangladesh. But that's been loosen for the Eid. But It was told social distance & maintaining health hygiene are must.

But people are not obeying that. I was frightened to see so much people. They were not obeying the rules at all. They were acting like there is nothing like corona. Though I was wearing a KN95 mask and trying to maintain social distance & don’t get touched by others. It was a horrible thing to do.So I am not going to such place no more!

Now let me tell about that place. In the entrance there are some temporary shop of knives and such kind of stuffs those are necessary for the process of the sacrifice. Then there are people who were spraying savlon water to disinfect people as much as they can.

They were selling masks & hand sanitisers. There were police & organisers who were controlling the atmosphere & trying ensure health hygiene to be maintained as much as they can. It was said if people don't obey the rules they would be fined.

There are two sectors & the big part is for cows & the smaller one for goats & lambs. Those animals are brought from the areas around. Both the buyers & sellers are there. But the trade is vastly influenced by the middlemen. They make a lot amount by the process of the trade.

Adha means sacrifice. The trend started from the famous story Ibrahim(Abraham) & his son Ismail (Ishmael).Allah(God) wanted to test Ibrahim by asking him to sacrifice his son in the name of God. Ibrahim was so obedient. He went for it,Allah was pleased But inspite of Ismail a ram was sacrificed by the wish of Allah. From then this is going on. The Muslims sacrifice animals on the eve of Eid ul Adha. The flesh obtained from the sacrifice are being distributed among the poors, the relatives & person himself.

Those who can't afford to buy animals they will get meat from his neighbours and relatives. Thus all can be happy. That's why It's called the Eid ul Adha (happiness of sacrifice).
