Hello steem geography, i'm delighted to be part of this contest "a call to deliberate on World issues" and I appreciate @bright-obias, @belenguerra, and @badsha1 for bringing this contest to limelight.

My country is Nigeria, i will start by saying that since the re-election of our president there has been trouble here and there, in the country, i am not saying that before the election there was total peace but since the re-election the country has been in chaos.

When we were growing up our teachers will make us memorize what the Nigerian flag represent which are; " the two green stripes represent natural wealth, and the white represents peace and unity "

But the current state of Nigeria cannot be termed wealthy naturally, i'm not saying that we were not endowed naturally, as a matter of fact we are greatly blessed with mineral resources.

"Nigeria is a huge country which is rich in natural resources. The Nigerian economy highly depends on these resources, that is why they are a huge part of many people’s everyday lives, especially those who work in the industrial sphere".

  • What is mineral resources?

Natural resources are commonly defined as the sources of wealth which appear naturally and are used by humans. They have a few classifications, which depend on different principles. The most popular out of them is renewability – according to this one, the natural resources are classified as renewable and non-renewable.

Here are the examples of natural resources:

  • renewable resources are animals and plants,

  • non-renewable resources are minerals, soils, and fossil fuels.
Non-renewable resources are usually found in very limited amounts, and Earth can take ages to produce the new ones. That is why the non-renewable resources are valued the most.

  • Nigeria are blessed with the following:

According to the the map above, you will agree with me that Nigeria is endowed with resources that is capable of feeding this generation and our generation to come. But our country which is blessed is facing thing that other countries which are not even blessed are not facing like

  • Hunger and starvation

The cost of living in the country has tripled, if there is anything like quadrupled, i will say it describes our predicament better because a sachet of water i know we buy for #5 then has now become #20, even the coins we use to buy biscuits, sweet and chewing gum then is no longer in use.

2 naira coin

Which means that anyone still having this coins in their home will have to put it up in the museum for sightseeing by the new generation because of their low value.
But do u know that the salary people earn when things are cheaper and life a little easy is still what they earn as things becomes expensive in the market which will make a family of 6 that their bread winner is earning as little as 30k to go hungry and starve when the salary finishes before the arrival of the next.
And do u know that sometimes their employers will not pay them for two -three months which will leave the children of these hardworking Nigeria vulnerable to hunger and starvation.

Now the second part of the flag, the white represents peace and unity " but what i see below contradicts what our flag represent

  • Armed robbery, kidnapping and money rituals

Armed robbery is a type of robbery aided by weapon(s) to threaten, force and deprive a person or persons of the right to private, public or corporate belongings. Since the end of the Nigeria civil war (1967-1970), the offence has become a problem in the country, occurring almost on a daily basis in the urban areas more than the rural. Armed robbery can take place in residential homes, commercial places, motorways and any other place the offenders may deem necessary to operate. The current criminal climate has made it possible for armed robbers to engage in interstate criminal operations as well.

Kidnapping is a major problem in Nigeria in the early 21st century. Kidnapping by bandits and insurgents is among the biggest organised or gang crime in Nigeria and is a national security challenge. Resistance to kidnapping often results in the deaths of victims.source

There is no week that passes that the newspaper won't carry bad news of ritual killing of human being both adults and children alike.
Sometimes the people that commit these crimes are closely related to the victims but because of the financial benefits they will gain from the transaction they decide to sell their souls to the devil and brutally kill their own without remorse.

  • Rape

rape-5.jpg
a gagged rape victim
The rape cases, in Nigeria is increasing drastically even children are the worse hit.
Just like a story i heard on Sunday about a 7 year old girl that was raped in Alakahia port Harcourt, Rivers State on Tuesday 1st of June, 2021. After this incident the life of that little girl will never remain the same anymore.
And i ask myself, does these men enjoy sexual pleasure with these infants with these children wailing and crying out for help due to the agony, misery, anguish the rappist is passing them through.

A rape victim made the statement below;

"Have you ever been beaten and raped? With blood pouring from your head?" Follow her story
– Becky Mahmud*

Many young girls, children, teenagers, even grown up ladies have died in the process of assault for example Vera Omozuwa in Edo State and Barakat Bello in Oyo State, both of whom died from the assault.
source

The news below is heart breaking and the highest level of wickedness, how can a 12 years old girl by gang raped by not 2 but four full flesh men.The victim is a 12-year-old girl in Ajah, Lagos. She was raped by four masked men in her home.

Our children are not saved even in their own homes any more

Oh Jesus! Save your daughters

  • Bad governance and insecurity

The human cost of bad governance is evident in the low level of basic infrastructure, weak healthcare and educational system, high unemployment and the number of out-of-school children, amongst others. Across the socio-economic class divide, there is a feeling that the effects of bad governance will catch up with everyone someday. The recent protests by young Nigerians against police brutality, the #EndSARS protests, exposed the gross human rights abuses suffered by many Nigerians at the hands of the institution created to protect them. More than about the police itself, the protests demonstrated the youth’s discontentment with governance throughout the country.source

If you followed the news trends during the #EndSars protest you will agree with me that there is high level of bad governance in Nigeria because the reason for the protest was not achieved, on top of that many youth were massacred.

As a citizen of Nigeria, i have been affected in the following ways;

The rape cases in my country has ingrain fear in me that whenever i'm walking home at night i'm usually scared of my surroundings and any man walking close to me is a suspect of either robbery or rape attempt but these fear loose its grip on me as i remember the word of God in psalm 91
Psalms 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
91:5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
91:6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
91:7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
91:8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
91:9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 91:10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
91:12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
91:13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
91:14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
91:15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
91:16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Also, in the case of high cost of living i've been affected as well especially when i go to the market to buy foodstuffs i realize most of the time that the money i originally planned for the meal will be less compared to what is required.

In the case of kidnapping, i was not among the people kidnapped but the people very close to me were kidnapped on the 23rd of August, 2018 when we were returning from a program.
With the event that transpired before the kidnapping, we were able to tell that it was a planned kidnapping from the driver and the conductor of the bus.
But the four of our sisters kidnapped were released a week after we paid ransom each for them to be released.

the letter is an affidavit pf the kidnapping

In the above shot i decided to use the car to block their identities

In the case of robbery, my mum has been robbed by the so called one chance people in the front of our house in Niger State when she was going to the market.
It happened that they told her to enter the back seat which already has three occupant but since it was uncomfortable, they told her to sit in passenger seat which is occupied by one person also but it was uncomfortable for her too and then they finally told her to drop that she can't fit in but they deed has already been done.
She discover that her money has been stolen when she wanted to enter another car by then the other car has disappeared from sight.
That year 2010 happened to be the worst year of my life because in that year i didn't go to school, i and my immediate younger brother had to sell pure water for us to eat in the house.

  • If i am given the opportunity to lead my country what changes will i effect

The first thing I will do if i am given opportunity to lead is to grant #secession to Biafra Republic, Oduduwa Republic and Sharia law

Because if each region is given opportunities to manage their own God's given mineral resources, you will agree with me that there will be great change in our country come 2030

All these parties should be given the right to manage their respective resources inorder to better their land and solve majority of the problems ravaging her people.

With the above in place the Education system also will take new shape and parent can comfortably send their wards to school here and not looking for a foreign country to send their wards to for academic pursuit.

Problems such as poor health facilities also will be taken care of and patients and doctors will be happy, also the amount death rate in our hospitals during childbirth and surgeries due to lack of quality medical facilities will reduce.

Agricultural farmers will be granted loans and grants for farming inorder for food to be available for consumption.

nigeria can only be a beautiful place if it resources are managed and controlled by its owners

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to air my thoughts.
