Since I joined Steemit 2 months ago, I have tried to find somewhere to write about my garden that would take an interest and have found it very difficult. I am happy that @badsha1 has created a contest that is perfect for what I like to write about and I hope that you will welcome me and Steem Geography can become my permanent allotment ❤

We moved into our house 2 years ago and had what can only be described as a builders garden. Concrete paving slabs everywhere and a few well established shrubs scattered around. My husband did lots of digging and landscaping and has created an area that I can now grow many fruit and vegetables in. We grew lots of strawberries and raspberries last year but the squirrels ate all of the strawberries so we are going to do more to protect them this year.

We have planted 2 apple trees (Golden Delicious 🍏 and Pink Lady 🍎), a pear tree (Concorde 🍐) and a (Stella) Cherry Tree 🍒. All of them are doing well so far this year and growing some lovely foliage.

To finish our fruit selection, I'm also trying to grow some grapes🍇, blackberries and gooseberries. I'm surprised that the grape vine survived the winter, I really hope that we get something from these.

I'm also growing some vegetables. Asparagus which we cannot pick until next year and then my 5 growing zones. Potatoes 🥔 and Sweetcorn 🌽 in 1, Peas and Courgettes 🥒 in 2, Leeks and Carrots 🥕 in 3, composting 💩 in 4 and then broccoli 🥦 and lettuce 🌿 in 5. This is the first time we have ever grown anything and I really do not know what to expect. If it all goes well though, we will be feeding the whole street.

I nearly forgot my herbs - Parsley, Chives, Basil, Thyme and Rosemary - which I like to pick and add to my cooking. They had a hard winter so I need to wait and see if any need replanting.

There is a little more as we continue to plant flower beds and have a small lawn for the children to play on. It is rather embarassing at the moment so I will not share any photographs yet 🤣

I like the same things as most other people, animals, gardening, cooking, traveling, photography, art, TV, music and films which is probably what I will write about most. I talk and swear too much and am always noticing things that I should not be noticing. I am the mother to two beautiful young boys and the wife to a caring husband.
