Documenting the hand printing and embroidery processes in India

Needling - the process to make tine holes to the tracing paper where the design is made (by hand).

Neel or using an easily washable liquid to get the pattern/ design traced on to the fabric.

The liquid is transferred through the tiny holes made on the paper during needling process, tracing the pattern/design on the canvas.

Neel or indigo blue is the most common liquid used.

Embroidery being done on the traced fabric.
