Agricultural Story #8

The agricultural season is about to begin again. We all know that Nigerian farmers rely on rainfall before they make their first moves to the farm. Before then, the farm to be used must be cleared. That's why bush clearing is important in agricultural activities. That's where my key focus is on this agricultural story.

Born into a working class family, my parents cherished their work and also have interest in farming. According to them, this lifestyle started before they went into white-collar jobs. That's why they can't deviate from it despite how tight their work schedule may be. It's important to note that any farming activity is usually done on weekends to prevent any clash from work or school (my siblings and I).

On a fateful day, my parents scheduled a bush clearing event which is important in the farming process. We had no options than to dance according to the rhythm. Tools, water and foods were packed as my dad drove us to the farm. The moment we landed, the work started immediately. After clearing for a while, I had to lighten my mood by playing music.

My Spotify didn't fail to deliver as it gave music according to the stress of the clearing process. As the process drains away energy, the songs had to stimulate energy which it did. I took water breaks occasionally so that I won't faint on that farm. The quad did justice to the farmland as we laid down the once bushy area. While the clearing was ongoing, I kept an eye to notice any stray bush animals but they seem to be careful.

Another major reason is that the place wasn't a fully developed bush, so the chance of seeing it was slim. After the clearing process, I went into photography mode trying to do an optical illusion on the Palm tree. It was a wonderful but stressful experience.
