“Agricultural Economics is a branch of applied economics that studies several things about how producers, consumers and society use and utilize these scarce resources in the process of production, distribution, and consumption of agricultural products, especially food and clothing.”
Agricultural economics was born in Indonesia in the early 1950s, but only managed to gain strong support and great sympathy from the wider community after the establishment of the Indonesian Agricultural Economics Association (Perhepi) profession in early 1969. It was not by chance that the New Order Government under the leadership of President Soeharto began implementing the First Five-Year Development Plan (Repelita) on April 1, 1969, which placed the main emphasis on agricultural development. Agricultural economics and the agricultural economics profession developed rapidly, side by side, until they became witnesses to the history of Indonesia's achievements in 1984 which succeeded in changing the status of the world's largest rice importer to a country that is self-sufficient in rice. Now, the agricultural economics profession is more than 40 years old, an age that can actually be considered mature and mature to play a role in economic development and the development of Indonesian society's civilization.
Subsistence farming or self-sufficiency farming is a form of agriculture in which farmers attempt to produce enough food to meet the needs of themselves and their families. Subsistence farming operates on a small scale, uses traditional methods, and has limited resources.
Subsistence farmers rely on inherited knowledge of land and crop management, use simple farming tools such as hoes or sickles, and employ their own family labor.
Subsistence farming often involves traditional, ecologically sustainable practices. Farmers typically use organic or traditional methods of tilling the soil, using natural fertilizers, and managing water wisely. This approach can help maintain soil fertility, biodiversity, and reduce negative impacts on the environment.
Agricultural food crops are types of plants that are cared for by farmers to meet food needs, such as rice, corn, wheat, beans, and vegetables. These plants are very important for the community, because they provide a source of staple food for daily needs.
These food needs require care and management so that the harvest can be maximized. Honda friends must ensure that the plants get the right care, such as fertilization, watering, and weeding. You are also required to protect the plants from pests and diseases so that the harvest is not affected and remains of good quality.
Food security is one of the most important things, therefore you must ensure that the plants you plant grow well. In this case, you must increase food crop production by using agricultural technology and improving the quality of the seeds used.
