Hey, streemian, What's Up? I am @labibasultana From Dhaka, Bangladesh. Hope all are fine. I gone a participate in this season's new weekly engagement contest.

"SEC | S20W5:"Planting & Care" Let's start ...

1. Which season does your region/country falls? and what are the best planting times and why are these times the best?

Bangladesh has six seasons: summer, Monsoon, Autumn, Winter, and Spring. Trees can be planted at any time of the year, but the best time is the monsoon season, which in our country starts between June and July and ends in September. The best time to plant trees is at the beginning and end of the monsoon and the end of the day i.e. afternoon. Why is the rainy season the best time to plant trees? Soil fertility increases during the monsoon. Air contains moisture, which is very important for plants. Plants get enough water during the monsoon. Rainwater contains more vitamins than normal water, such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, sulfate, and nitrate ions. Potassium is a beneficial element for plants. Normal water contains oxygen and hydrogen, so trees become more alive in rainwater. Rainy season trees grow very easily and do not require much care. However, some trees are planted seasonally. Like sunflowers are grown in late spring, mustard and soybeans are grown in winter.

This Frangipani is called Kathgolap in Bengali. I planted it on the roof of my house

2. What is the importance of planting trees in the right place and in which places can trees be planted?

If the tree is not planted in the right place, the growth of the tree is not good and the tree may even die. Besides, if the tree is not planted correctly, it can affect the environment. In the case of trees, it is easy to find a place, but considering the environment and the tree's future, it is difficult to choose a place for the tree. According to information, it is known that the planting of big trees along the railway line is prohibited because the roots of big trees can destroy the railway track and cause accidents. Many accidents may occur due to not being able to see the train from a distance if there are large bushes or trees on the side of the railway line. More trees should be planted along the banks of the river to prevent erosion. In the case of big trees like ban trees, rain trees, tamarind trees, etc. which grow very large resulting in the plant being planted in large and open areas. We can plant many small trees on the balcony. Such as cactus, various flower plants, chili plants, bitter gourd plants, etc. It is the perfect place to plant trees . Open field, schoolyard, balcony, terrace. But of course, in some plants, the soil is also very necessary, for example, sand soil is necessary for almond trees, and acidic soil is necessary for orange trees. Besides, plants can be planted inside the house, they are called indoor plants. Such as Teach Lily, Lucky Bambo, Spider Plant, etc.

3. What kind of fertilizers or organic fertilizers should be used to prepare the soil before planting?

Just as our body needs different types of food to meet nutritional deficiencies, plants also need different nutrients to live healthy and normally, and those elements are not only fulfilled by soil, water, and sunlight. All these nutrients are obtained through plant fertilizers.

1. In the case of planting trees directly in the ground, first make a hole in the ground as needed and fill the hole by mixing Burmese compost, mustard seeds, cocopeat, and dung manure with the soil. Many times chemical fertilizers are also used like urea, TSP, etc.
2. After mixing organic or chemical fertilizers with the soil, the soil should be kept like that for 1-2 weeks.
3. After that, trees should be planted in that soil.
4. After every 30 days, fertilizer should be applied to the soil regularly for healthy growth of the plant.
In the case of indoor plants, since they do not get direct sunlight, they cannot make their own food, so they have to apply fertilizers regularly to meet their nutritional deficiency, in this case, horse manure, cow dung, egg shells, earthworm manure, etc.

The flowers grew slowly. It feels so good after the flower blossoms from the bud

4. What is the correct method of using pesticides and fungicides for gardening and which pesticides/fungicides can be used?

We can use imidacloprid to control insects in the garden. Also for control of BPH, we can use pymetrazine + nitenpyram. These are very good for the garden. For control of garden fungus we can use mancozeb, carbondazim, or bismarthiozol group of fungicides. These are good for gardening. Also, there are many other types of pesticides according to different diseases of plants, which should be used very carefully and in the right amount. Excessive use can also kill the plants, and of course hand gloves, masks and goggles should be used while using these pesticides and should be applied from a certain distance. The best time to use insecticides is in the morning or afternoon before evening when there is no heat from the sun. Pesticides should not be applied in the afternoon.By soaking garlic or neem leaves, blending them in a bottle and spraying them, insects can be controlled easily. Tetracycline, a human medicine, can be used to control fungi. Also, using ketoconazole shampoo can help prevent rotting of plants. It has no side effects.

5. What home remedies can be used to protect plants for the roof or back garden?

Plants are often infested with ants, insects, bacteria, and fungi. Due to these insects, bacteria, germs, fungi, various diseases and rot occur in the roots, leaves, stems and roots of the tree, due to which the growth of the tree stops, flowers and fruits fall, the tree becomes weak, and even dies. So to save the tree from this, if there is any disease or decay in the tree, the amount of insecticide or fungicide should be used. There are some natural or home remedies that can be used to reduce ant or insect infestation in plants such as neem oil, ash, and pepper powder mixed with water sprayed on the plant will not attack the ants or insects. There will be no harm to the plants and these methods will protect the environment. Some other methods can be used for pest control which are environmentally friendly such as: water traps, flour traps etc.

I have shared all my thoughts on this topic hope you like it.

Welcome to the agro learning challenge season 20 Week-5.

Observations and suggestions:

Bangladesh is the only country with six seasons but our country usually has the largest number of trees planted during the rainy season. In that ratio, most trees are planted from June to September. Rightly said if you don't plant trees in the right place, the balance of the environment gets destroyed. You have made a very important point that planting trees with associated shrubs near railway lines can cause rail accidents. Small plants such as shrubs are usually planted in the backyard or on the roof of the house. The fertilizers that you mentioned before planting are not usually used in rural areas. But those who make gardens professionally use all these fertilizers. BPH attacks most of the time near mango trees or other fruits which cause more damage to the plants. These are definitely good for suppression: Pymetrazine + Nitenpyram. It is very nice if you give the process of making pesticides at home. They are mostly used at home. You have made a very nice post and I wish you the best.
