In addition to my previous two posts in the arrays of Agricultural topics 👉choose-write-post #2. I would like to contribute more on the topic Agricultural Enterprises and enterpreneur.

Entrepreneurship is associated with the individual or collective capacity to develop sustainable enterprises. It is often linked with innovation.

The term Entrepreneur is often used to refer to the founder or promoter of a business, business owner, self-employed person, a trader or a farmer cultivating crops on his land.

TRAITS OF AN ENTREPRENEUR

1. Need for Achievement

2. Entrepreneurial orientation/inclination

3. Entrepreneurial drive, which means ability work for long hours, manage stress and problems.

4. Critical thinking and decision-making ability

5. Creative and innovative

6. Good at networking

7. Able to identify and pursue business opportunities

8. Risk taking ability

9. Ability to understand and navigate uncertainty and constantly changing business environment.

10. Ready to learn and develop

11. Competency at running the business and having managerial, communication, technical and people skill

Entrepreneurship is often linked with innovation. It means either one or more of the following,

1. Introduction of a new product or a better-quality product

2. Introduction of a new method of production or procedure

3. Venturing into new markets

4. Capturing of a new source of raw material

IMPORTANCE OF AGRICULTURAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Agricultural Entrepreneurship is important due to the following reasons;

1. Economic growth

2. Employment

3. Survival and growth of farmers

4. National food security

5. Exports

6. Sustainable farming

7. Self-reliance

8. Equitable distribution

9. Innovative and premium products.

10. Increased wealth and development in rural areas

11. Technology adoption

PROSPECTS OF AGRIBUSINESS

1. Technological developments and research

2. Increasing Govt. support through various schemes

3. Increased automation

4. Use of Internet of Things (IoT)

5. Increased demand for quality food

6. Remote sensing technology

7. Use of robots

8. Opportunities like Agro-tourism

9. Directly selling agricultural produce (no middle-men)

10. Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies will look forward to establish extensive backward linkage with farmers. (for example ITC's e-Choupal, a web platform to procure from farmers).
