Steem-Agro Drawing Contest 10: Agriculture Through Art
INTRODUCTION
My Drawing Tools
• HB pencil
• Coloured pens
• Plain sheet paper
• Sharpener
• Eraser
My Drawing steps
• I started my drawing with the first set of grass blades. I drew the first tuft of grass with an upward stroke, then I curved it. I did this a number of times then I joined them together.
• Then in my second step, I drew another tuft of grass joined together by blades. I repeated the first process which was an upward stroke curved, making up blades of grass.
• My 3rd step was about repeating process or step 1 and 2 making up another tuft of grass.
• My next step was drawing the part of the grass closer to the soil. I drew 4 parts joined together.
• Then my last step was drawing a butterfly hovering over my grass. I also added stalks to my grass.
• When I finished that part, I used my coloured pen to trace my grass to make it more pronounced or more obvious.
A BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF GRASSES
IMPORTANCE OF GRASSES
• Grasses are used as herbs and are also used in making medicine. Example lemon grass which we drink for different purposes.
• Grasses are used as building materials example the thatch we use on our roofs, straw, and also some grasses are used to make things like hand fan, mat, bags, baskets, etc.
• Grasses are used for decoration and planting them around our houses makes everywhere green and naturally beautiful.
• Grasses prevent erosion by holding the soil together.
• Grasses pick up carbon dioxide released by humans, if not for grasses, our air would get more contaminated. Grasses traps millions of dust that would have contaminated the air we breathe.
• The truth is, we underrate grasses, we see it as something that grows in our fields and is of no use to us but grasses are invaluable to all creatures on earth.
