What are the functions and roles of bees in agriculture?
I can say that bees have a very important function in relation to farming in rural areas of Bangladesh. Bees move across the fields with the pollen on their legs and transfer the pollen from one flower to another which is beneficial to us for our crops. In fruit trees such as mango tree, lychee tree, and guava tree, bees play a key role in pollination for the trees to produce good fruits. Whenever I was a kid, I used to go to the orchard and realized that bees are essential for pollination which was not occurring proportionately properly and there was less production. They function unlike other plants in a manner that is moderate within the whole area of the orchard. They are useful not only in crop production, but also in beautifying flowers which make the natural environment more attractive.
What crops are most likely to be "bee" dependent, and why?

Many of the crops grown in our country rely on bees in one way or another. The mango trees that we have in our village would not be well pollinated and the fruits that we ate would not be of good quality as they are supposed to be, due to bees. On the same note, bees also assist in the pollination of fruits such as lychee and banana. I have noticed that in the absence of bees, these trees produce fruits not in the right proportions. Bees are also very important for many horticultural crops for example, tomato and cucumber. The pollination by these insects improves the yield and standards of the produce in the market.
How do bees contribute to global food security?

In our country the people in the villages cultivate crops depending on the season, and the bees equally contribute to the increase of these crops production. If bees were not present the effects it would be able to that to the availability or production of foods. For instance, low pollination activities done by bees will reduce the yield in mango/lychee fruits. This would have been a big blow to the farmers we have in our village here. Let it however be known that bees are as vital not only to Bangladesh but the entire world in the production of fruits, vegetables, and nuts. They help in feeding us and maintaining international food security systems.
Briefly discuss the economic value of bees' contribution to agriculture?

Like in Bangladesh, which is an agricultural prevalent country, bees are valuable. To a certain extent bees enhance the yields of crops which in result increases income of farmers in the agriculture practices through pollination. For example, any farmer within our village who plants mangoes, lychees or any other fruits in the respective season can be able to earn good income after taking his or her yield to the market. This further means that if bees were to be lost, then the quality of these crops would be highly diminished, greatly impacting economy. Moreover, honey we consume is gotten from bees, which is a primary source of honey in our country.
