Briefly explain 3 causes of early crop growth damage.
Causes of Crop Damage |
---|
Crops can be damaged early for several reasons in Bangladesh. One major reason is the weather. Heavily rainy season or flood during its rainy season can also damage the crops. Heavy water damage their roots and plant particularly, very young parts. In rice farming floods can drown the field where the plants cannot get oxygen and they die. Young plants such as tomatoes, cauliflower and chili can suffer from cold weather in winter. Extremly cold can kill young plants quickly. The sudden change in temperatures stop crops from growing properly.
Big problem for crops in Bangladesh is pests. Pests, such as brown planthoppers that eat the leaves and roots of the rice, reduce the harvest by attacking rice fields for example. Pests such as jute weevils damage to jute farming. Farmers sometimes don’t have access to the fertilizers or organic matter needed by plants. It makes the plants weak, more likely to get sick, resulting in low crop yield.
Mention 5 importance of nursery pots in plant early growth?
Importance of Nursery Pots |
---|
In Bangladesh, nursery pots are really helpful when growing crops and vegetables. These enable plants to grow safely in safe and managed space until ready to be transferred into the field. The plants are not damaged when they are transplanted this way. In Bangladesh, nursery was grown many fruit plant. But once they grow strong, we move the plants to the field where they grow quickly and start producing fruit very soon.
Another reason nursery pots are so useful is to protect plants from bad weather such as heavy rain or cold. In Bangladesh weather may change very much so we took care of the plants in nursery pot. They also guard the plant from pests and diseases as the plants are grown in a controlled environment. For sensitive plants like tomato, onion, chili, cauliflower, papaya, etc. this is mostly important. The limited space problem is also solved by nursery pots as many plants can be grown in a nursery pot. This method is very helpful for growing the vegetables in Bangladesh.
Briefly mention 3 differences between monocotyledon and dicotyledon plants
The growths of Monocot and dicot plants are different. Like rice, wheat and corn, monocots have only one seed leaf. These plants have fibrous roots or they have many small roots. They have narrow, long leaves with parallel veins. Monocots are characterized by having their flowers with three petals or multiples of three.
The seed leaves of dicots are two, like that of mango, lychee, papaya, mustard and potato. Tap roots are thicker and deeper and come out of them smaller roots. For example, mango trees have tap roots. Dicots leaves have the net leaf pattern. Flowers of dicots as a rule have 4 petals or some multiple of 4.
