Cover in my room - King Crimson - Epitaph / acoustic cover by @juliolunar

Greetings to the entire community.

is the third track from the 1969 album by British progressive rock band King Crimson, In the Court of the Crimson King. It was written by Robert Fripp, Ian McDonald, Greg Lake, and Michael Giles with lyrics by Peter Sinfield. The song stands out for its heavy use of the Mellotron, and as with the first track, "21st Century Schizoid Man," the song's lyrics have a distinctly dystopian feel. The song title was used as the name for a live album of recordings made by the original King Crimson, Epitaph. Emerson, Lake & Palmer would later incorporate an excerpt from this song after the "Battlefield" portion of the live version of their song "Tarkus", from the Tarkus album, as documented on the live album Welcome Back My Friends. to Show That Never. Finish ... Ladies and gentlemen. "Stripes" from Cage's Hell's Winter album shows a middle part of the song throughout its duration. Epitaph Records also took its name from the song.

#stayhome.

Epitaph

Describing “Epitaph” is complicated, as is describing the entire album that it is on and that recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary, In the Court of the Crimson King. Melancholic, extravagant, mysterious, sad, evocative, foreboding… all these adjectives come to mind, but I think they fall short, so before trying to explain their music and their message, I will talk about the feelings they provoke in me.

King Crimson
Epitaph

The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams.
Upon the instruments if death
The sunlight brightly gleams.
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
As silence drowns the screams.
Between the iron gates of fate,
The seeds of time were sown,
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known;
Knowledge is a deadly friend
When no one sets the rules.
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools.
Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back
And laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying.

And remember, stay home and together we will win.
