Game on! Esports officially becomes a sport in Indonesia - Sports - The Jakarta Post
The decision to officially recognize esports as a sporting activity was probably made largely because of its appeal among its youth and its potential for being one of the engines for Indonesia's economics growth.
The International Olympic Committee is still yet to recognize it as an official medal event at the Olympics. It has said that it could look at sport-simulating games in the future but it should meet two conditions, namely, it should promote good physical and mental health and include VR and AR games that incorporates physical activities.
That would mean games like Hado are likely to be recognized as Olympic medal games in the future.
