INTRODUCTION

Hello my wonderful friends of Steemit Colombia.
I trust you are all doing great.😊

EID MUBARAK to all my Muslim friends in this community and all over the world!
May this Eid bring you peace and happiness.

I have always enjoyed stories written by others and sometimes written mine but I have never been compelled to write one in a contest. So, I am ready to let my imagination fly, and here's my entry for the Steemit Engagement Challenge for week 2 #contest in this amazing community.

The Title of my story is All Alone

Alone at the market square, on the dark cloudy eve of the new yam festival. Every one hurried home with the goodies they had purchased to celebrate the festival because the cloud was pregnant and was about to release one of the heaviest rain of the season.

Madu the orphan was still standing on the road still praying and believing that Chukwu the Almighty God would send a kind villager to buy the firewoods that he managed to gather from the bush so that he can at least buy garri (cassava flakes) and salt to have his first meal of the day. But no one paid attention to him. He was tired, cold and hungry.

As he tiredly walked across the road to the farm house where he lived, he was knocked down by a fast moving bicycle. He was surprised he fell and the firewood scattered all over the road.

The old wrapper he used to cover his body was torn all over.
The rain was coming down heavily and everywhere was wet. He gathered some few dried ones and wandered about without any clothes on.

It was late into the night and it was still drizzling. He could hear people cheering and rejoicing in their houses. He looked through one of the windows to see his uncle and his family having a sumptuous dinner but he couldn't go in because the uncle had abandoned him since his father died.
He never met his mother. He was told she died immediately he was born.

The sight reminded him of his dead father and he sobbed and thought silently, "I had enjoyed these beautiful moments with my father before he died".

The night was becoming very cold. He managed to get to the thatched house where he lived but there was no house. The heavy rain and breeze had brought it down.
He tried to rescue some of the rags he uses as clothes but he could not because he was tired and the mud and thatches had buried his old worn-out sack bag but he was able to stumble upon his match box and native lantern that were saved by some leaves from the rain.

He thought aloud to himself, "Thank goodness, I can make fire with these to stay warm". He tried to make a fire.
He lit the first match stick and was surprised to find a fire place beside him but then, the fire went off and the fire place vanished.

He lit the second match. This time around, he saw a bowl of fufu with bitter leaves soup (his best soup) and he jumped up with joy to set to eat thanking Chukwu for his providence but then, the food disappeared and the match burnt out.

He lit the third and the last match and he saw a shadow of a woman standing beside his fallen mud house with her arm spread out as to hug him. He walked towards the shadow and the picture became clearer.

"This is the exact person in the picture that my father showed me was my mother".
"Mother! He cried out in joy. "Where have you been? Why did you leave me alone for so long? I have missed you so much".

The closer he went towards the shadow, the farther away the shadow went with a goodbye wave and a beautiful smile.

Suddenly, Madu found himself in a brightly lit up forest and was still wondering about how he got there when the shadow disappeared. Someone tapped his shoulder from behind and he turned to see his father. He ran into his arms and hugged him tightly. Finally, he is no more alone.

His father gave him some roasted bush meat and yam in palm oil sauce. How delicious". He shouted and sat down to eat his food.
His father gave him new clothes to wear and made a fire to warm him up.

Madu didn't have to sell firewood to fend for himself anymore because he was frozen to death. He could now live in paradise with his father and mother forever. The best part is that he has now found someone he can call his own, to love and to cherish, with no death to do them part. He spends each day in the woods with the love of his life, basking in her warmth and affection. Enjoying the beauty of their paradise, with nature's best gift: True Love.

The End.

Moral of the Story.

There are lots of children and people who are suffering around us. Let's find them, give a helping hand and save some lives.

I pity the young guy, he died out of frustration even when trying to meet up with daily demands at least food, I don't know why some uncle's are so wicked, seeing the only child of your late brother and you can not accommodate him. Your story just brought tears in my eyes, how I wish I saw madu I would have helped him. Is so pathetic

You're so beautiful, Ma'am @mesola.

I keep wondering what it would take us to give a helping hand to the needy no matter how small it may seem.
Honestly, I really do not know the stuff some uncles and aunts are made of.

May God help us to over come the evil of envy and jealousy.

Am looking forward to reading your own story, Ma'am.

Sad. He survived the accident to die from cold. If only he had help or better still took better care of himself. My thoughts: we all should live socially useful lives. Also we should never fail to proactively plan and provide for our welfare, the world is growing more selfish everyday and self-care is an essential part of our adaptation. Nice story here. Well done!

Thank you so much, @nsisong99 Sir for your contribution.

Self-care is now an epidemic that is eating deep into souls and bodies.
May God give us the understanding to do the right thing.

Greetings, a great story that reflects the adversities that we can go through. Sad that the young man froze to death

Yes Ma'am @karla-jaen. It's such a pity.

Thank you so much for visiting, fear friend.

His father gave him some roasted bush meat and yam in palm oil sauce. How delicious". He shouted and sat down to eat his food.
His father gave him new clothes to wear and made a fire to warm him up.

Acts of hospitality is vital the bible encourages us to show hospitality to strangers, save life if we can show love to as much as we can.
I love your story.

Thank you so much @beautybb beautiful Ma'am.
May God help us to go back to the old ways of being our brothers' keepers.
I look forward to reading your own story too.

Great story written by @nneoma08 the whole story was concise and full of suspense.Indeed, many people are suffering without any helper or even parents to lean on.Such is the life of Madu.He passed through challenges as an orphan who was abandoned by his uncle.

I think he can now rest from all the sufferings on Earth and find succour in death.

🥺🥺😰 I tried as much as possible not to cry after writing this story but your comments now is bringing back the tears.

Thank you so much for your contribution, @samuel20.
May Madu's soul find rest from all his sorrows.
