Rigaya And The Night Coffee Shop

Once upon a time, there lived a maiden in the outskirt of a small town called Erisha. She was called Rigaya, the only surviving offspring of a noble family. She got the orphan label at an early age, and strived to live through each passing day ever since. For Rigaya, each new day was a challenge to be overcome as she could barely afford a single meal daily. Often than normal, tourists would mistake her for an insane lady. This became so frequent that she got tired of wanting to give the reasons for her shabby appearance. Rigaya spent her entire teenage life on the streets of Erisha, hoping that someone from the multitude that walked pass her would see her differently some day. She continually witnessed how others would eat to their fill and trash the remains, than to give away to a street kid. No matter what challenge Rigaya faced each passing day, she would always find a way to maneuver out of problems and avoid getting in contact with the authorities. Without a doubt, Rigaya was very much limited, as such, this caused people to regard her as irrelevant.

After living on the streets for more than half her age, she was finally able to land a job at an evening coffee shop as a waitress. It wasn't as easy as i just made it sound; here's how her lifestyle changed into a betterlife.

Rigaya was now 20 years old, she would wake up from her bed bag, food it up and take a bath in a nearby stream at dawn. She would rush to a restaurant in the city and clean its surrounding, then wait patiently in one corner. She consistently did this effectively for 2 weeks without ceasing, and with no intent of giving up any time soon. On the 15th day, while waiting in her usual spot, she said to herself, "Doesn't he see me each morning when he passes by to open the restaurant? Or is he just like the others who judges with just a glance?" , Rigaya was disgruntled. Her disappointment was followed by some quick and powerful steps as she stormed towards the man who approached the door of the restaurant, closing in on him swiftly. Just as he raised his head up and about to slut in the key, he got startled and dropped his briefcase and the key. Panting with his left hand placed on his chest, he said to Rigaya, "Miss, from which direction did you come? You almost gave me a heart attack". Rigaya lashed out while saying her piece, then stormed out in a similar manner as she did moments before. The man was baffled and ran after her, calling out, "Miss! Miss! Miss!", but Rigaya was too bittered to respond. He caught up with her and had a civil conversation with her.
After a lengthy talk, it was revealed that the man in question was the owner of the restaurant, and shortsighted too. If was quite impossible for him to have seen Rigaya in her waiting corner at such a distant. With regards to the cleanliness of the surroundings, some already took credit for all Rigaya's hard work, as such, the man didn't bother to inquire who the good samaritan was.
After all these revelations, the owner of the restaurant decided to give her a job to lead towards a better life. The restaurant was never a night coffee shop until Rigaya presented her case to her employer on when it should become a night coffee shop. Rigaya had monitored the affairs at night in the vicinity, and realized that a night coffee shop would yield much more income.

The opening of the Night Coffee Shop was a huge success as the shop was packed with lots of customers to the point that, chairs and tables were made available outside to accommodate the growing number.

Rigaya was made manager of the Coffee Shop, and she immediately thought of how to help others on the streets. Her life changed from that day onwards.

Interesting story @b-naj. I admire the fact that Rigaya didn't stray off to a path of theft and immorality as most street kids do but instead, kept working hard to get a legal job and it finally paid off. Great piece you wrote.

Thanks for the invite but I already participated in this contest

Oh cool, let me check yours out then.
Thanks for reading

👏👏👏👏 I applaud on your narrating style. How you linked your story to the image. Weeldone @b-naj.

I think the hard time rigaya had during her childhood forged her hard working habit and determination.

Nevertheless since she comes from a noble family. Her parents must have have money for her future, or something similar depending on age where the story is taking place.

Personally I think rigaya's situation fully represent our current situation in our daily lives where we need to work extra hard and smartly in order to join the two ends

@fonjougiresse, you have said it all. Determination plays a big role in our current situations.

Thank you so much for your comment, it touched many parts🙌🏻.

Hello dear friend, no doubt life can change us in the blink of an eye, sometimes we must work hard to change our reality, certainly not all of us have what we want but we can always get it with hard and intelligent work. Fight for our goals and dreams. Greetings and thank you for participating.

Thank you so much for the review @franyeligonzalez

Wow! Interesting story about Rigaya. So unfortunate that many people judge others without hearing their own side of the story and tend to take credit for what they know nothing about like in the case of the orphan. Thank God it ended well.

All stories have successful moments, the biggest problem faced is the fact that many give up or seek easier ways which won't last. Persistence will always witness successful days.

Thank you so much for reading @patience90

What a wonderful story. Many people in Rigaya's place would rather sit in a corner and grumble about how people are wicked and life is unfair. But I like what Rigaya did. She made tremendous effort to be seen by the restaurant owner.

And when he didn't notice her, she didn't sit around and cry. Rather she walked up to him and said her mind. That was courageous of her and it is that boldness that allowed her to step in the direction to change her life.

Thank you for this wonderful story and for inviting me. But I already made an entry🙃

Most definitely, she just couldn't quit. So many people fail because they stopped trying. There is absolutely no way someone can experience failure every single day for 365days in a year. The key is to keep moving forward, don't give up.

Thanks so much @rosita-nkefor

I can just quote you now to motivate people😂😂😂.

🤓🤓🤓🤓

A good writer you are. I've been reading a lot of stories since this contest opened and I'm glad this one didn't disappoint.

The girl never gave up no matter how hard her life seemed and that's what I'm taking with me. She also didn't just sit and wait for opportunity to hit her door, by cleaning the cafe and finally presenting herself when she wasn't recognized, she opened an opportunity for herself.

Keep writing, you're great😊

Thank you so much @graciella for the praise. I'm so glad that the piece met your expectation. I look forward to reading your story.

You're welcome. I'll try to write one.

Great story! Helping others is so important. I hope she gets it right 😊
