What would you like to go back and tell a teacher from your past?

Hello everyone.

I have been lucky enough to have amazing teachers as a student, and I remember all of their contributions in helping me be the person I am becoming today.

However, there's one teacher that took my development so personally so that I remember him more than others- Mr. Okoh who taught us Chemistry in senior high school.

I was then about 15 years old and was in SSS 1. He had an admiring personality and a different way of teaching. He was very punctual and honest and inspired us to be so.

In his classes, you could never be bored. He had this gift of making the lessons interesting and attracting students to his stories. Much of the chemistry I now know is because of him.

Before my encounter with him, Chemistry used to be one of my dreaded subjects, but within two(2) months of being in his classes, it became my best subject.

One main reason he impacted on me was due to is his amiable personality. He was never found to lose his temper no matter what. He always listened to us attentively and then gave his opinion. I have never found him in angry mode and I was very much amazed by the fatherly behaviors he had toward the students.

At a particular phase in my life- a phase I presume lot of guys go through, when I was in danger of taking the wrong path as a result of peer influence, he made me his mentee and took his time to follow up my progress in ensuring I distanced myself from negative peer pressure.

He also taught me some academic skills that developed me so that I was among the top five students in the school within 6 months.

Unfortunately shortly after my graduation, my phones were stolen and I lost his contact.

In my opinion, he was the best teacher I've had so far and I am very much curious to learn more about him and would like to meet him to know about the things he is doing now.

Five(5) things I'd like to tell him:

  1. Thank You. I truly appreciate you

  2. You made Chemistry extremely easy to understand

  3. You made such a huge impact on my life. You saw something I couldn't see in myself.

  4. I'm still using a skill you taught me - How to effectively manage my time.

  5. I'd never forget this one thing you always said in your classes - "Education is one thing no one can take away from you."

Would love to hear from you all too about what you'd like to go back and tell a teacher from your past.

Thank you and have a great day.
