The importance of having a profile picture on Steemit
I've had the opportunity to see both in the Writing & Reviews and Steem Geography communities, many users who don't have a profile photo. Many of them are newbies, but others have been on #steemit for a few months now.

1- Identity
Sure, our profile picture, along with our username, tells us who we are. You may not want to put your face, due for different reasons, but you can put an animal that you like, a landscape, an avatar, or anything with which you identify.

2- Seriousness
Many spam accounts don't have a profile image, in fact not only spam but also duplicate accounts.

Por qué tener foto de perfil? 🤔
1- Identidad
Claro que sí, nuestra foto de perfil, junto con nuestro nombre de usuario, nos dice quién somos. Tal vez no quieras poner tu rostro, por diferentes motivos, pero podés colocar un animal que te guste, un paisaje, un avatar, o cualquier cosa con la que te identifiques.
Como verás, ese muñequito gris y blanco, solo dice que eres un usuario más, pero vos, sos vos.
Así que...

2- Seriedad
Muchas cuentas spam no cuentan con imagen de perfil, de hecho no solo las spam, sino también las cuentas duplicadas.
Si sos un usuario serio, aunque seas nuevo, querrás darte a conocer en la plataforma. Como decía recién, no es necesario que se te conozca físicamente, pero seguro que querés mostrar tu trabajo. Por ello, tus seguidores terminarán identificando tu contenido con tu nombre de usuario e imagen.
De hecho, cuando alguien cambia su imagen de perfil, es muy fácil darse cuenta, ya que todos estamos familiarizados con que esa foto hace referencia a ese usuario determinado.

3- Credibilidad
Esto va de la mano con la seriedad, pero debo mencionarlo, ya que mostrar una imagen de perfil, en este caso sí, sobre todo, si es tu propio rostro, le demuestra al resto de los usuarios que sos una persona real y transparente. Les estás diciendo: "este/a soy yo y vengo a compartir esto con vos".
Si yo leo una publicación cuyo usuario no tiene una imagen de referencia, una parte de mí se pregunta quién es la persona que está escribiendo, ya que al leer contenido, sobre todo si se trata de buen material, yo quiero saber más de ese autor. Paralelamente, uno tiende a asociar los escritos, el arte, y demás, con alguien, con su creador o creadora, por eso es bueno que nos permitas asociar lo que crees, con ese algo que hace referencia a vos, y no con el muñequito gris y blanco.

Lo sé, al llegar a la plataforma estamos tan abrumados por toda la novedad, que no sabemos exactamente como dar este importante paso. Pero, afortunadamente es más simple de lo que creemos.
Seguí estos 3 pasos y vas a tener una hermosa foto de perfil en tu blog:
1 - Andá a configuración
2- Subí una foto de perfil

Creo que acabas de abordar un tema importantísimo. Cuando manejamos una red social, sea cual sea, lo primero que debemos sustentar en nuestra identidad, de lo contrario seremos simples bots ocultándose detrás de una imagen falsa. Quizás a muchos les aterra informar sobre su identidad, tal vez porque usan el anonimato para ejercer denuncias, acoso o incluso trolear a otros usuarios. He visto que muchos optan por mantener el anonimato en steemit, y aunque a veces sea entendible, en la mayoría de los casos puede prestarse para situaciones irregulares. Saludos cordiales.
