The Interview Showcase #96 - Exclusive Talk with A Ghanaian biomedical scientist/blogger

in Hot News Community6 months ago

Hello people of Steem and Steemit,

It's a new week, welcome to the 95th edition of “The interview showcase...." and my 19th show for 2024.

If you are new to this page, this lifestyle program has many educational values. A weekly interview of users in the blog concerning some trending topics on the Steemit platform. And tips that can help other Steemians to progress positively and help boost the Steem’s growth.

It will help you to get to know more about Steemians around the globe and even Steem and Steemit itself.

I take time to look at some of the most important topics in the blockchain and have a chat/call with Steemians who have a greater idea about those topics.

They also share some tips that can help other users understand the blockchain and correctly use it. Sometimes they seek valuable suggestions here to help them solve some of their challenges.

In today's edition of the interview showcase, I would be talking with @edmund.nef - a Ghanaian biomedical scientist who also finds blogging on Steem to be very interesting.
In the time past, he made a lot of mistakes in his blogging journey here on Steem , however, after few guides / coaching he was back to a good start. Presently, he is the only Ghanaian who follows the rules of posting on Steem. Are there things you can learn from him...? Let's find out!

Ubongudofot
: Hello Edmund, it's nice to have you on my Interview Showcase today, maybe I have known a little information about you through some investigation done in the time past, but how will you describe yourself to the steemit community?

🔶Edmund.nef : I will describe myself as a dedicated person, consistent with what I want, persevering to achieve my goals, and patiently waiting for the right time. Hard work, respect for another, and above all try my best to love all.

Ubongudofot
: How long have you been on the steemit blog? And how will you describe your experience on steemit since you joined?

🔶Edmund.nef : I joined steemit on 30th March 2021 which means I have been on the platform for three years. I must say - the experience has been off surprise but good and bad. However, the good had dominated and superseded the bad part of the experience. I also believe that those bad experiences are what have shaped me to this particular point. I am not forgetting the support from my colleague steemians.

I can confidently say that the journey has not been easy, I remember when I used to make posts back then, and after a whole week, there would be no single comment, not even an up-vote. However, with support from others on this great platform, things have changed from bad to good. It is great and I believe it will even be better.

Ubongudofot
: I have noticed how you have been persistent in your blogging, have you always been like this in the time past?

🔶Edmund.nef : Yes, I have always been consistent on this great platform. Even in the time past, I used to be more consistent than I am now. It is rather unfortunate that, because of work schedules and how busy I have been of late, it makes me not to be able to share content as I used to do before.

Moreover, it seems the community I used to share most of my contents with has dissolved since it was powered down. It is unfortunate. However, it is still fine. I will continue to share my content and be more consistent.

Ubongudofot
: Who inspired/helped you to come up all these while?

🔶Edmund.nef : Several individuals have helped me to this point. I remember when @cherub27 used to coach me on how to make a post. Based on what I was told and had read on steemit, I noticed I had to be active.

However, with all my activities all these while, it was @ubongudofot who gave me the inspiration, tips/guides and the strength to be able to share great contents with us all. Hence the joint combination of these two individuals is what has brought me this far.

Ubongudofot
: Just make sure you help other people the same way.

Ubongudofot
: Will you say blogging on steemit has affected you positively

🔶Edmund.nef : Blogging has affected me positively. It has affected me positively in three major areas with the other being minor which I will talk about here. These major areas include my writing skills, my finances, and my friendship and reading skills.

At first, I could spend quite several hours trying to write a post and even to write about anything. However with the continuous practice on this platform. Writing has been made easy and for now, I spend about 20 minutes doing the same thing I used to do with 1 hour. In terms of finance, I believe we are all aware that it is through this platform I was able to replace my phone when I lost it.

Ubongudofot
: Some months or years back, you were involved in your country's admin team just before it went down.., were there some various contributions you made to boost your country's Steem growth?

🔶Edmund.nef : Yes, I was involved with them. This was when we used to organize telegram meetings, Discord and even sometimes Zoom meetings just to help each other to succeed on the platform. This brought most of them together and made the steemit Ghana more and more interesting.

It was lovely to the point that we met together almost all the steemians in Ghana and we had a nice time together. This made us close and we were able to help each other in various ways. I remember I would spend several hours just to help and reach newbies on how to go about their activities on the platform.

Ubongudofot
: What's your real-life profession?

🔶Edmund.nef : I am a biomedical scientist, majoring in Molecular Biology. Although it is my interest to further my education in Bioinformatics.

Ubongudofot
: If you were to choose to write on your profession weekly, do you think you would have a good audience reading that here in the blog?

🔶Edmund.nef : Most assuredly, I will get a good amount of audience to listen and pay attention to it. Almost all individuals love this field in one way or the other. Imagine - I am to talk to you about how you can determine your children's paternity and Maternity in the house 😂😂who will not be interested? I believe most people would and several others.

Ubongudofot
: It could be interesting to go for that, maybe, you could post that in the Steem health community weekly....? I could figure out a name for you after my breakfast today.

Ubongudofot
: Do you think we could have more Ghanaians in the blog again and what do you think can be done to get qualified bloggers or investors from Ghana?

🔶Edmund.nef : Yes, I do think we can get more Ghanaians on board. Although it will be a little bit difficult to solve this issue, it can still be done. One of the ways I think this can be done is by talking to individuals who are dedicated to the platform and not those who come just to make money. I believe that we need to take our time to introduce steemit to individuals who are joining because they want to share their content.

Ubongudofot
: Presently, I am running a project called: "Steem Lighting Africa" which aims at installing solars in schools within Africa. If I were to visit Ghana which I am coming to soon, which 3 places would you suggest I should do such a project?

🔶Edmund.nef : First of all, thank you you for this great idea. I must say, this is one of the best things I have seen to be going on. I will advise you to visit the three major places in the northern regions - Upper East, Upper West, and Northern. These are three places in Ghana where the sun is very high. This means, installing solar panels will be to their advantage., come we are waiting.

While most regions in Ghana experience two different running seasons, these three regions only experience one. Most of the time, the sun normally goes high with temperatures sometimes as high as 48 degrees Celsius. I must say, it is the price of Solar that is preventing almost all from getting that. Hence if you can come at an affordable price, I bet you , all will buy from you.

Ubongudofot
: We would talk more about that in the coming weeks...

Ubongudofot
: What impact do you think this can create in the environment?

🔶Edmund.nef : This will help reduce the drastic amount of power being used by the Ghana Electricity Company. This will further help to reduce the generation of power from the burning of fuel and also other sources that cause ozone layer depletion.

This will prevent the frequent power interruptions which have been occurring. Also, individuals will have no issues with going to queues for long hours just to buy power. It will make the work for everyone easier and much better.

In schools, this would help students to learn their computers. effectively because there is electricity. And many would come to know more about Steem

Ubongudofot
: Hopefully, I would be in Ghana in the coming months.....

Ubongudofot
: If you were to change something in the world, what would that be?

🔶Edmund.nef : All I would do is change the use of plastic to paper and something like glass which will be recycled by enforcing laws. Although the cost of plastic is affordable and can be used for all other things, the effects of these plastics are not worth it.

Ubongudofot
: Which user would you like me to interview in my show and why?

🔶Edmund.nef : I would want you to interview @irawandedy. But it looks like you have already featured him.

Ubongudofot
: What do you like doing in your leisure?

🔶Edmund.nef : I prefer watching football and also watching action movies. These are the two major things I do during my leisure time. Although sometimes, I do read to broaden my knowledge on some specific areas in my field, I prefer the two above.

Ubongudofot
: What's your kind of music, can you sing it or play it?

🔶Edmund.nef : Mostly it is hymns I prefer to listen to, play, and sing. Thanks to the writers available who have translated some hymns to the Ghanaian language (TWI) making is easier and easier to sing since it is our language.

Ubongudofot
: If you were to live with a pet, which pet would that be?

🔶Edmund.nef : I would prefer to live with a cat. I like how calm they are, how noble they are and how they sometimes close their eyes to what does not concern them. However, if you come to their area then they will not allow you to disturb them.

Ubongudofot
: How do you balance your daily work routine and blogging?

🔶Edmund.nef : It has not been an easy journey with that. Sometimes it becomes more than the word "difficult " to make a post since there is a lot of pressure on you. Also, something might come up for example the last 3 days of which I have not shared anything on the platform as a result of my traveling and attending training.

With this, I have barely less than 4 hours of rest and I have to use a few minutes to read and recollect what has been learned. Although I am unable to share, I make sure I share them later when I am a little busy.

Ubongudofot
: What advice would you give to some newbies who are also thinking of doing great on the platform?

🔶Edmund.nef : My advice to such individuals is to be consistent in what they are doing. They should also comment on posts of their interest and vote on those posts. They should not say they have low SP hence no need to vote. That will not help them in any way.

But voting with a low SP will give you some curation rewards and also means you are supporting others hence others will support you. They should not come and dumb their post and go offline expecting someone to come and vote on them and comment on them while they did not do it for others.

Ubongudofot
: Whose blog do you enjoy reading?

🔶Edmund.nef : @heriadi is the person I currently enjoy reading his entry. He does take his time to share his content for us to understand and the fact that I can convert it from their language and is clear and simple to understand in English is one of the things I like most. He writes simple clear and concise content. I do love going through his entries and reading them.

Most of the time too, I do visit your blog to read your interview show. It is amazing and spectacular. Those are the moments that make me happy even if I am not before visiting your blog. I do enjoy your entry as well.

Ubongudofot
: Do you have any suggestions or messages for the Steemit team?

🔶Edmund.nef : The only message I have for them is to look at the sports aspect of the platform. It seems sports are not gaining attention as it is supposed to on the platform. Most importantly football is one of the things most individuals and gentlemen love.

Hence if those aspects are active, then more individuals will come onto the platform to share their sports ideas. I have personally spoken to over five different individuals who are interested in sharing sports content platforms and I directed to the sports platform but they could not succeed.

Ubongudofot
: Talking about sports, I think @the-gorilla and @frafiomatale do share some sport contents. Maybe you could consider having some serious and genuine engagement on such posts, perhaps a good network of engagement could be form.

Ubongudofot
: What can you say about the interview showcase and would you like it to continue?

🔶Edmund.nef : It is phenomenal and yes I would want it to continue. I hope this will continue to take ideas from individuals on the platform to help make it a better one. The platform itself is superb and we can even make it much better. And for it to achieve that I believe this interview section will play a part and it should be maintained and more interviews should be conducted.

Ubongudofot
: Thank you very much Edmund.nef for your time, it was nice to have you on my show.
