Local News : The Opening Of Cameroon Dam And Heavy Rainfall Has Made Many Homeless
Hi friends
There are so many factors that affects the way of life of so many people and the most terrible are factors those we can't do anything about it, that's is to say those factors affecting life of living things in the society. This brings me to the topic "Natural Disasters", this year have so so devastating with so much bad happenings, first of all the rain fall and sunshine were unlike previous years and this also affected the growth rate and harvest time for most plants especially in my region.
This was just the talk of the state until this month of October where heavy rainfall was experienced and this caused most river, dam and other water bodies to overflow into nearby communities all over the state and county at large, although some flood were caused by poor environment maintenance for example blockage in drainage systems, building structures in water partway etc.
But this year flood was not cause by any sort of poor environmental sanitation, instead it was because the famous opening of the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon. This dam is usually opened almost every year, so therefore wherever the dam is opened it causes overflow from the water bodies into nearby communities.
But this flood is supposed to be a minnor flood but the heavy rainfall causes the flood to be very drastic and devastating flood causing so much side effects to the citizens.

This year flood is so rapid and powerful because it has covered a large area in just few weeks, making so many homeless. 4 days ago I traveled back to Bayelsa state, Nigeria just to find out that flood covered all partway leading to my rented apartment, I was so disappointed and
sad because i was coming from a long distance, so I have no or little strength to struggle with water while carrying my luggages. They only thing that gave me joy was the fact that I live on a top floor in a story building so my properties weren't affected by the flood but movement was so difficult, I really felt bad stepping into the flooded water because I easily get skin infections or irritation.
I moved around to see the environment
and I found out most families has traveled out because of the flood, so I decided I would travel after two days. The flood has also made the indigenes of the town to abandon their crop's or plants in the farm because most farms have already been covered with water from the river.
When I asked a friend who was around when it all started he said the flood was this effective and fast because rain had fell for straight three weeks without properly stopping, he said it caused all the rivers to forcefully overflow into the community and the soil was to wet to absorb all the water from the river. He also added the ground is so wet that it has affected so many wall strength but he assured me that no one will lose his/her life because 95% of citizens can swim perfectly.
Coming to Anambra I found out that the flood has also affected so many communities in the state and this slowed the transportation time of the intra-national bus. Reaching home I was happy that the flood didn't reach my home town because it is in a higher ground.
