Aceh is the region where I live which has a variety of customs and cultures with its own uniqueness. Aceh is also famous for its delicious culinary specialities. Today I will share one of the culinary specialities of the Aceh region, namely Roasted pulut

Roasted Pulut is a traditional snack from the Aceh region that is commonly consumed by all Acehnese people. This snack is made from glutinous rice or commonly known as pulut rice. Usually pulut panggang is used as a snack in the morning or afternoon, as a complementary food when drinking coffee or tea.

At certain times, Acehnese also enjoy the roasted pulut with tapai made from rice, or glutinous rice. The combination of tapai and roasted pulut produces a distinctive and addictive flavour on the tongue.

The way I enjoy roasted pulut with tapai

In addition, roasted pulut is also often enjoyed with durian fruit. The savoury taste of the roasted pulut mixed with the fat and sweet taste of the durian fruit, is a very "matching" combination, so it does not make eneg when eating durian fruit. For the people of Aceh, enjoying durian fruit with roasted pulut is a fun and delicious way.

Roasted pulut is also very affordable and easy to find, because many sell it. The price of 1 pcs of roasted pulut is only IDR 1K or when converted is equivalent to 0.4 STEEM

The ingredients for making baked pulut typical of Aceh are:

1. Glutinous rice
2. Thick coconut milk
3. Sugar and salt to taste
4. Banana leaves and sticks
5. Fire coals

How to make roasted pulut

First step
Prepare glutinous rice and soak for two hours to soften the glutinous rice.

Step two
Combine salt and sugar in the glutinous rice, stir until smooth, then add thick coconut milk and cook the mixture on the stove on low heat, stirring until the whole mixture is well mixed and the coconut milk blends with the glutinous rice.

Third step
Steam the glutinous rice that has been aron earlier until tanak, then let stand until the glutinous rice is slightly cold

Fourth step
Prepare banana leaves that have been cut, put 1 spoon of glutinous rice that has been steamed earlier, then wrapped with banana leaves and glued with a stick.

Fourth step
After all the glutinous rice has been wrapped
with banana leaves, prepare the coals and roast the glutinous rice. Turn back and forth until the leaves change colour and the pulut is cooked. The snack is ready to eat.

Roasted pulut is my favourite Acehnese snack

It's easy to make and the ingredients used are also easy to find. This roasted pulut snack is also one of my favourites, although there are many contemporary snacks that are viral in the market, but for me traditional snacks always have a special place because the taste is always unique in its simplicity.
